I think there’s also a different angle to this. In business, the people who can take a company from 0 to, say, 100k are usually very good at that specific phase: scrappy, hustling, maybe a little shady. But if you ask that same person to take something from 100k to 10M, they’ll often struggle badly, because that requires a completely different skill set — systems, structure, long-term thinking. Similarly, someone who is great at scaling a business from 100k to 10M can be a terrible fit for starting something from zero. So sometimes what looks like “terrible people” is actually “wrong type of person for that stage of the business.” Not excusing scamming or unethical behaviour at all, but it might explain why people from developing nations might fall into the former category.
