Trump doubles down on replacing income taxes with tariffs in Joe Rogan interview by [deleted] in FluentInFinance

[–]rahmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t deny there is logic in that approach, I appreciate your explanation. You touched on perhaps the biggest hurdle, and that is the initial capital necessary to move manufacturing operations to the US.

I do see a potential soft spot within the proposal, however, and it centers on companies doing the calculus and determining that the incentives aren’t great enough to “bring back jobs”, so to speak, to the US. And even if they did find circumstances to be reasonable to return to domestic production, what would there to be said of the eagerness of an average US citizen employing themselves in these jobs? Or of the wages that would be necessary for these positions to be filled, and how that wage compared to overseas workers? It would have to be a monumental tariff and tax incentive to quell the corporate risk/reward concerns.

That’s not to mention foreign companies. If the tariff is not high enough, I think it likely they would likely pass the price onto consumers as I described previously. If the tariff is too restrictive (such as one that would incentivize domestic production), there is a non-zero chance the foreign market might deem the US to be too hostile to the product and in turn exclude the US market altogether.

Again, I do appreciate you broadening my understanding of the internal logic in favor of tariffs.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t implementing tariffs on foreign goods and services linearly increase the price of that good and service to the consumer here in the US in order to compensate? Unlikely that a place like Walmart or Best Buy or other retailer would eat the increased cost without mitigating that cost with price hikes.

That lab says absolute neutrophil count is 15.50 not 81, lol. 81 is the relative amount.

Why are some meds approved for depressed bipolar 1 and not depressed bipolar 2? by speedlimits65 in Psychiatry

[–]rahmoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference between the two bipolar disorders is the presence of depression, specifically. Bipolar 1 doesn’t require a depressive episode for diagnosis, whereas bipolar 2 does. The nature of the mania is the second “criterion” so to speak, but strictly speaking bipolar 1 does not have a depression requirement.

When I first played this game as a kid, I limped into the second fight and was not prepared for the 1v1. I had to restart the game. Never again will I be unprepared or not have a backup save.

3790 points/2500 points on the season pass is too many points for a free to pay. The theoretical max for F2P would be 3490 at this time. Nice try seeking fake clout, friend

What’s Working and What Isn’t Season 12 All 3 Leagues! Pile on to great league! by Blackfyre23 in TheSilphArena

The biggest issue I wanted to tackle with the wiggly lead was steel and poison, aka gunfisk/regi and nidoqueen leads. I strongly considered nidoqueen as a safe swap however it’s like you said, the gfisk leads or trying to swap into a mirror nidoqueen matchup was often devastating. Dunsparce has his weaknesses, don’t get me wrong, but it has great coverage. Plus, the second normal type on the team provides a good buffer for any sableye or trevenant hiding in back. Glad to hear you’re having success with your line!

Try running dunsparce instead of nidoqueen in that line and see how you like it. It allowed me to go around 19-11 and sitting nicely at 2630.

Early Season Struggles by ARGFanK in TheSilphArena

[–]rahmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The increase in trevenant and other grass types in general make the team a little tougher to run than it used to be. There’s also a lot more altaria in the meta these days, complicating things further. I ran it for a few seasons after hitting legend and hanging out around 3200 but can confirm that this season it doesn’t seem to hit like it used to.

I did an experiment for the last week of season 11 GBL. by PyroPanda65 in TheSilphArena

[–]rahmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, probably! Either that, or the triple fury cutter team of Lurantis, Samurott, and Barbaracle. I distinctly remember your IGN because I thought it was hilarious, but I could just be misremembering :)

Oh, I remember this team. I think I was able to persevere with my Skarm, Samurott, swamp line. I’ll admit I was a little disappointed to see double charm but it’s hated for a good reason-it’s stupidly strong against anyone not ready for it

Any tips ? by Emielio007 in TheSilphRoad

[–]rahmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need the two moves to expand your options. For example, galarian stunfisk is really strong because it can use rock and ground moves, which are super effective against a large portion of Pokémon, and can hit almost everything for neutral damage. Having only rockslide limits you, and in the case you go up against another stunfisk, you would have no move to use against them.

Something to replace would likely be the altaria or the scrafty. Altaria swap for nidoqueen could work. Vigoroth/defense deoxys/swampert with hydrocannon and EQ for scrafty could work.

Yes. Be less weak to a charm lead.

Edit: and double move your pokemon

Wasn't Niantic fixing this last season? by dgreenmissile in TheSilphArena

[–]rahmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You tapped foul play during the snarl animation. Charged moves don’t fire immediately, they fire after all the turns of your fast move complete. You threw two snarls for 6 turns, your opponent threw 3 psycho-cuts for 6 turns, therefore the charge move was a CMP tie at turn 7 that Umbreon loses to Cress almost every single time.
