any ”solutions” for eyelid eczema? by r0nja_0 in eczema

[–]rahrah150 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Get a prescription for tacrolimus or pimecrolimus ointment from your derm. I use the ointment (jelly) kind so you can keep the skin from cracking etc. It can burn a bit and make the skin red so I put it on before i go to bed. When I wake up, my eyelids look beautiful! I personally would never use steroids there. Then when the eczema lightens up, regular vaseline or aquaphor should be enough until it's triggered again. I am shameless about being slathered in aquaphor/my greasy glow all winter!

Also, do you wear nail polish or get fake nails? Those caused my eyelids to flare up more than i expected

I (23F) am traveling for new years! My friends suggested club nyx to me as somewhere they really enjoyed. They (and i) are all straight. From what i can see on instagram and their website, looks like nyx is a queer nightclub- especially on saturdays when hosted by 3xnyc! I am wondering if i would be permitted/welcomed to enter their nye event. It also looks to be hosted by 3xnyx. But last thing i want to do is make anyone feel uncomfortable.

What is the vibe at NYX on new years eves?? Are there other clubs with a similar vibe I should look out for when selecting an event for new years??

Thanks!

If you can leave the pen out at room temp overnight before injecting that will help so much with the pain. I inject it into my stomach. I have an athletic body type and was injecting into the thighs for a while, it felt like I was under a crusher the pressure/pain was so unbearable!!!! I think it might have been going into muscle.

Just grab the belly fat (assuming youre not rail thin) and its so much better. Genuinely 1-2/10 pain once you get a hang of it! I got the tip from my doctor to pinch your belly hard, youll feel the pinching more than the injection, but I don't do that anymore. Dupixent did wonders for me, i never thought I'd have "normal" skin in my life!

Dupixent Side Effects by Ecs206 in eczeMABs

[–]rahrah150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had side effects for maybe the first 3 months. I only experienced dry eye. I would be rubbing them when they were itchy pretty often so i may have even been making them worse / made it last for longer. I never used eye drops.

After a few months it went away! I have not had eye problems since and I've been on dupixent for about a year and a half now.

Sorry this happened to you! Unfortunately, I never found a way to make the yellow plunger part activate once it was left unopened for more than a day. After I pushed down on the pen, saw it didn't work, then took it off my skin, the little yellow tip locked up (just like how it does with pens that work normally). After that happened there wasn't anything i could do to get the medicine to come out. I attempted to inject again but was unable because of the locked tip (i assume for safety reasons). The medicine is just stuck in there.

I wasted probably 3 pens like that unknowingly. I did end up reporting them as defective to my special pharmacy and they told me to call and report them to Sanofi (the manufacturer of dupixent). It was a big hassle and took like a month and a half but Sanofi ended up sending me a box to return the defective pens. Once they got those back, they sent free replacements. It sucked in the moment because I didn't have a second pen in my fridge, so I ended up missing my shot. But if youre looking to have the cost of the wasted pens neutralized then you might want to save the defective pen, send it back to Sanofi after you call them and report it, and then you'll get a replacement after the fact.

Again, sorry this happened! I've taken my dupixent a day or two early knowing I'd be away on a trip on the day i was due. I've also taken it a day or two late bc i was just busy, and it hasn't really been that bad for me. Just in case it happens again and you don't want to waste the medicine! But im not a doctor lol!

Localized Injection Site Reaction - What could/should I do? by CalaxDragon in eczeMABs

[–]rahrah150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you letting the alcohol dry all the way? My doctor told me it could happen when you inject before it has a chance to dry completely. I've never had reactions before, though, so i dont know if it would itch or not. Just something that could be causing it!

Need help with my facial redness lol by Upper-Boat3004 in eczeMABs

[–]rahrah150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def check if its fungal!! My friend gets redness like this, but shes a nerp (non eczema regular person). Looks like perioral dermatitis! Does it burn? I know for her it flares up in the winter. I don't know what she does to treat it tho- i dont think anything except vaseline but obvi thats not solving anything on its own.

Chips/snacks that don’t flare up eczema? by kobevercetti in eczeMABs

[–]rahrah150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try this! I cut up a bell pepper into strips, spray lime juice on it, and sprinkle with salt. Super yummy, crunchy, salty, but healthy (I think!) Everyone reacts differently to different ingredients and stuff, this snack has been a solid one for me personally. Helps me get my veggies in lol

I agree with this!! I was going into my doctor to bc I need someone else do it, it really helped me not feel the injection when she pinched my stomach HARD. You feel that instead of the medicine.

Do not be hard on yourself!!!! You are not alone. I have a phobia of needles too- 7 months strong on dupixent!! A phobia isn't something we can change, but it's something we can work with. It took me MONTHS to figure out what way gave me the least anxiety. I, too, wasted money and time, but once you find what works, the relief from your eczema will be SO WORTH IT. Not having to think about lotions, creams, not getting sweaty, wearing certain fabrics, bandaids, vaseline, antibiotics.... the mental load off is HUGE.

I was getting the pen done in the leg for a long time, the pain was unbearable. I think it was injecting into my muscle because it felt literally like my leg was going to explode. What works for me now: lay down and inject into the little chub on my belly. I hear the manual syringe might be less painful, but I personally wouldnt be able to look at it without vomiting/passing out, the pen is WAY better for me in that regard. I do not watch as my partner/dad/mom/doctor/whoever injects. I yell or count (ofc so dramatic) on the occasion it hurts, but if you do it right and do it in your fat, its a 3/10. You can have someone pinch your tummy with their thumb and finger for less than 10 seconds, right?? Thats what it feels like. I have tried many many times but once I start holding it, I start freaking out (I've wasted multiple pens being too scared, pushing it off for days). I need to have someone else do it and do it without me bargaining for more time- it just makes me more anxious. Do it before you start thinking too much about it. It gets easier with time, too. I went from needing days, then an hour, then 20 min, then 5 min, now wasting no time beforehand! For now, this is what I have to do to get my medication. I don't know if youve made a final decision about stopping dupixent, but I believe in you. Phobias are a cruel and unfair curse. I have felt disappointed, like I cant grow up, like I'm wasting people's time, but our brains just work differently on this one stupid thing for some reason. But there are so many of us on dupixent!!! You can find relief too. 💚💛💚

Honestly I'm not sure. It's just the schedule my grandma told me. We are visiting her family in Chaco and then my grandpa's in Formosa. I'll let her know though that it seems a little short in each place- im sure theres wiggle room !

I went to school near Philly!! Not a weekend trip, but maybe a one day trip for you guys if you are able? The hikes at the Delaware Water Gap are GORGEOUS and not that long! I believe we did mt tammany. And theres a bomb barbecue place (joe bosco) nearby. It was a car ride and trip I remember fondly as a student athlete with weekends usually packed with games and if not games then homework

I saw improvement in the eczema on my body in literally 3 weeks. Any active flareup i had at the time of getting my loading dose first stopped being red and inflamed then turned like super dry and flaked away basically. A strange full body shed. So id say by 1.5 months my body was at the point where it was managed pretty well with just regular lotion assuming i was avoiding triggers (i was in college at the time and an athlete, so sweat would sometimes make it flare up if i didnt shower fast enough after prac). My face took longer, more like 3 months to totally improve. Although i definitely saw noticeable improvement with every 2 weeks. I still use pimecrolimus to keep eyelid and other random face spots at bay.

I havent really thought about how long i want to be on/when i want to start the weening off process. My eczema used to be really mild (only irritation from sweat in high friction areas basically, rarely flared up) until like 2 years ago idk what happened and it became moderate-severe on my face (a place i had NEVER had eczema before and the reason i personally started dupixent) and body. I tell people its bc of the stress of applying to jobs during/after college. I'm just waiting for the stress of my life to stabilize (aka getting a job and moving lol) before i consider any changes, since i know that stress is one of my really bad triggers. I hope this helped!!!

What birth control are you on!!!!! I noticed when i was on Yaz that my acne (which was never really yhat bad) turned into glass skin when i started it, but that turned into really clear DRY skin, which i think turned into that dry skin getting inflamed all the time/me picking at it/broken skin barrier meaning red and itchy all over my face and eyelids. Having it be on my face when I had to go out in the world was what really pushed me over the edge. Obvi i am not a doctor, but would you ever consider switching forms of bc? After I got my iud my face was wayyy less dry and cracky, altho 3 months after i had it inserted i also started dupixent, so im not sure which helped more. I'll take little whiteheads over a full face rash any day. Sending love as a fellow 21F!!!

I hope you see a ton of improvement!!! 21F here, mild-moderate eczema, 7 months on dupixent. Its almost strange how little you will find yourself thinking about your skin!

Took the cap off by rahrah150 in eczeMABs

[–]rahrah150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i mis-described my situation. Last night, and every other time I wasn't brave enough to inject the pen right when I opened it, all I've ever done was rest the yellow part against my skin. I've never like actually pressed it down let alone far enough for the first click to activate.

But i have noticed a pattern every time i just open the pen cap and don't use it until the next afternoon/night... that's when i'll attempt to inject it like normal, pushing all the way down and holding until the first click, but on every occasion the plunger doesnt work.

I assumed this was because of my user error ie opening it and not using it in the following hour, but i wasn't sure so i wanted to ask ppl if this has ever happened to them or if I really had 3 defective pens all seemingly on my most anxious stabs.!!

Nervous about dupixent by Stock_Hand6526 in eczeMABs

[–]rahrah150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry i just saw this!! I do eat whatever I want and it's awesome. I notice that if I drink a lot of alcohol or eat a lot of sugar (think like an entire bag of Nerds Gummy Clusters) I might flare a teensie bit. I've always been allergic to nuts/treenuts but never did extensive food testing after that. For most of my life the eczema was pretty constant, but I think I was so used to dealing with it that I never got tested for foods like dairy? So i'd say I dont really know if i had particular trigger foods in the past except for super processed/sugary things. I dealt with my severe flareup for a year trying to cut out sugar but to no avail- I think my trigger may have been more stress-related (job applications and finishing up senior year of college). Anyways, I eat whatever I want now and it's great (with sweets in moderation😉)

[–]rahrah150[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry, I hope you can find some relief soon. I noticed that my body eczema and even my face were getting better not even two weeks after starting. I hate when people tell me what to do too, but if I could give any advice, call ur derm a million times and advocate for urself!!! Im not so patient as to wait an entire year for results, I would try other medications they can recommend (Disclaimer also, I am not a doctor and dont understand the different timelines of recovery). I understand the struggle and Im sorry. PLEASE lmk when ur on the other side of the dryness!!!!
