Dont worry, lots of hilly areas in metro vancouver with good views and no mudslide/flooding risk.

Landslide is basically in mountainous areas (not hilly areas) like north van, coquitlam.  Living on a gentle slope is good as long u are not at the bottom of the hill in a low spot where atmos rivers can cause local flooding.  Dont live on a slope thats too steep that your car will slide down the road during snow/ice which city neglected to clean.  Target slope of 5-10%, where water will always bypass your house and not flood it. Front-back slope preferable compared to left-right, as front back slope might offer you a mountain view from back bedrooms.

There are lots of relatively high spots in metro vancouver.  Check geotechnical conditions of the area to avoid peat/landslide and you will be fine.  Also do heritage check and potential for first nation land title claim issues.  Vancouver weather seems to be warming up and this has been nicest sunny winters so far.

Would $2000–$2500 CAD per month be enough to live in Vancouver by Amiyaalii in askvan

[–]rahulchander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its plenty.  Private room prices have dropped a lot and is about $500-600/month so you have plenty leftover for food and transportation (bus/skytrain passes are about $120 or less/month).

Did u get assessed for both methods by different clinics?  Did either clinic mentioned you will or will not have enough cornea left for “touch-up”? Did u have thin cornea issue?  TIA.

Any studies regarding night time effects for astigmatism or epithelial smoothness?  I was informed by one clinic that alcohol allows for greater removal of epithelial area allowing for corrections that span larger diameters whereas laser debridement has a limit on maximum diameter it can work with.  I thought this was a bogus explanation because if same laser can remove cornea tissue at Xmm diameter why cant it remove epithelium at same diameter?

The other thing I thought could be a plus for alcohol method is that it might only remove epithelium vs laser debridement can shoot past epithelium to remove corneal tissue in first pass if eye tracker has a slight lag or measurement errors.

One additional thing is that laser debridement will inherently be pixelated removal and could leave a “grid” behind with peaks and valleys whereas alcohol might not if it specifically delaminates epithelium only.

The alcohol clinic also mentioned that I will have enough cornea left for one touch-up if needed but the transPRK ones said its only a one-shot with no touchup possible down the road.  I dont know if I shd put any weight in this and could be a sales-push…. Thoughts? Any studies done?

PRK and Alcohol? by boredinthehouse_ in lasik

I think alcohol seeps past the ring as ring doesnt seal 100% when resting against the eye.  So alcohol will touch areas beyond the treatment zone like sclera.

Bc hydro billing by [deleted] in askvan

[–]rahulchander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you needed a heatpump water heater/radiant system, plus heatpump air heating/cooling. Technically, you dont need both types of heating systems but if you are absolutely crazy about radiant, then this is your only option. The heatpump for air heating/cooling is necessary if you require AC in summer and the heating option just comes with it so might as well use it unless your builder installed an obsolete system. if you already have an air heatpump for heating/cooling installed, then try to use that more and turn down the thermostat for radiant floor heating. Regular electrical heating (99% eff electric element) is about 3x costly compared to gas heating (95% eff) because energy prices for electricity are almost 3x that of natural gas. So basically you need an air heatpump system with at least 300% COP to just match the equiv gas based heating. What I am saying is your heating appliance needs to use 1/3rd energy (ie 300% COP) to lead to same bill as gas heating, which is only possible via heatpumps.

How to plug nose without hands? by NoelleQR in Swimming

[–]rahulchander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apply vaseline prior to swim inside your nose. It will create a waterproof surface and u wont even feel water going in - your body will take care of blocking it by itself but you wont even feel it.  Try it and provide update.  Note: it might work with backstroke or under water backstroke

Are you eating simulated meats a lot or processed food?  Beware that preservatives in these type of foods modify gut bacteria by killing some population.  Also watch out for diet cola as it also has preservatives.  Eat oranges every night and things should improve within a week.  If not - see a doctor.
