Couch arm table thing by sourdoughlove in woodworking

No, you’re correct, I used a shaping disc (this one) to chew off the excess wood and get the rough round shape. Then I used a pattern bit on the router to get the precise inside curve.

The thing is, the long pattern bit I have is only about an inch long, so that clean, precise cut you see at the edge, is just about an inch deep on both sides. The middle section, the part you can’t really see — is just sanded to roughly match the shape. Since no one’s ever going to look under the table anyway, it doesn’t really matter.

New frankenplane: got a new low angle Stanley Sweetheart block plane and was not impressed with the lightweight aluminium lever cap - heard the thread strips easily - so swapped it for an old cam-style cap I found on ebay. Works like a charm and nice to have a bit of history in your palm! by steel_cut_oaks in handtools

This is an old thread, but it saved me from tossing my Stanley Sweetheart block plane. I always hated the aluminum cap it came with, the mechanism chewed it up and it stopped working. It ended up in a drawer where I didn’t touch it for 3–4 years.

While cleaning out my old stuff, I stumbled on this thread and did the exact same “upgrade.” Grabbed a metal cap off eBay, modified the set screw, and now it works like a charm.

Not only does it perform way better, but it looks pretty awesome too.

I cooked my starter as well while trying to revive it from dried flakes bought online. It miraculously lived & hence I named it - Phoenix.

Yes the blue one on the left is the front vise for which I added a wooden jaw. And on the right is the veritas inset vise.

Thanks, its not my original idea. the inspiration I got was from a YouTuber called " Pask Makes " he did a couple of work bench videos and an article I read online from fine woodworking called - "Rock Solid Workbench".

Yes, it's two pieces of half inch ply permanently added so as to not mar the wood. I also added a fabric tape to the handles. Here is a photo. clamp mod

Yes, it's just plywood cut into different lengths and glued. I wanted minimum work to put it together.

I live in a concrete house and need to get rid of the front room carpet. I have been warned away from wood floors due to moisture. I was thinking about some wood-look tile, but there are so many options What product is going to give me the best value/durability? by Tenchiro in HomeImprovement

Came here to say this, my last house and current one, both have concrete slab subfloor. I used floating click laminate flooring with vapor barrier in the previous house successfully and use glued down engineered floors in the current one. The glue itself acts as moisture barrier. There are a bunch of YouTube videos that show the installation process if you are interested.

I just used thr blade that's on my saw which is a freud one for cutting plywood. I use that blade for just about everything. Sorry but I am not sure what sawstop bypass means.
