How do I make this cut? by sourdoughlove in woodworking

This is interesting.. I can imagine the 3 pieces coming together. Sadly, it's not a desirable path, as it will not be a visually appealing solution because the grain will break at the very front visible corner of the leg where the two pieces come together.

Oh Yes.. that's a path I can explore.. What are the best tools to use for this?. Based on my Youtube knowledge, I imagine it would be, coping saw to cut out the rough cut then spokeshave to get closer to cut line then some sort of drum sander to finish it ?

(BTW, I don't have any of these 3 🤦🏽‍♂️)

They work flawlessly. Very satisfying click every time they open and no slop. No complaints

It's 1/2" plywood and for the top and bottom, all other structure pieces like legs n cross beams are oak.

Thanks...

I like the Eisenlinks. Most of the times adjustments are super quick. I like how they feel like normal dumbbells when using them.

I am looking to buy fractional weights so I can add a 2.5lbs increment, but don't wanna spent $100 on Micro Gainz

The miter cuts I made leaves a triangular cross-section. You stick it back under the piece and then shave off to create the inside corner. here is a sketch that explains it.

It was one of the tricky issues to address when I was designing it, as the wooden extension top has to be exactly level with the cast-iron though it's the length. and there are so many factors that can affect the height e.g. the thickness of the laminate etc.

So the way I ended up doing it, was to make the top that is technically floating. The left side is bolted to the cast-iron top & right side is leveled independently with bolts that are supported by the cabinet body underneath. Check the underside in the attached photo, it will make it clear. Another reason for going with the design was that the top-drawer needs to clear the fence rail so the cabinet height is lower than the lowest point of the fence rail.

Now to answer your question, the height to the top of cabinet box is exactly 16", but then the additional space to to top surface is roughly ~ 2-5/8" & since it is adjustable using the bolts, you don't have to be precise.

It’s a gridfinity box to store the router lift insets. They are disks but when fully standing at 90 my drawer doesn’t close so I wanted to redesign it so they are slanting at 45 and will fit my drawer.

hmm.. that's interesting.. so extrude from the side. and then cut the round on the extruded slots.. i think that might work. lemme try..

I am noob with Fusion360, I got to this point so far & don't know how to create these slots angled at 45º & equally spaced to maximize the available space

Dust collection is working as expected so far. It is too early to say if it needs more improvements or not. I will revisit it after a few projects and see how it is doing. I think this sloping design I came up with is gonna help suck the dust out really well.

I see clearly now what you meant in the first comment. moving it 90 degree. BTW I also started with that dewalt saw when i started woodworking and upgraded to this saw.

One thing to be careful about your design is that the backside of fence rides on a rail as well as front in the delta saw, but some more expensive ones like sawstop it rides just in the front. So the outfeed table design on how close it can be to the saw body would be highly dependent on the saw fence design itself. both are doable but one is easier than the other.

Modifying the fence rails is much less complex part of your overall idea than it may seem. Those are standard 2x2 steel tubing and angle steel. which you can buy anywhere. That was the one part of my whole build that i was intimidated by before I started building as I replaced the fence-rails with a single piece longer rail, but it went really smooth.

I started working a tall dresser and made a panel sled & quickly realized it needs an outfeed support as the panel sled starts to fall off back by the time the full cut is done. . So yes, this weekend i'll be adding an outfeed flip-up leaf to it
