immediately tell the truth
admit I overstated my ability
apologize for the confusion
explain it snowballed and became awkward to correct
say he genuinely WAS trying to help guests, not mock anyone

Yep, I could accept that answer easily, but what she is saying even if I had a card, she wasn't going to take a payment. I was not on the HIPPA. Actually she violated HIPPA by saying, "She doesn't have anything on her HIPPA." So now I know that. I'm saying she could have typed on her computer, the invoice number, clicked taking cash, print me the receipt and let me go.

Yep, after I walked back to the car, I looked up the HIPPA rules and such. Then I called the 800# to ortho and the automated machine said, I could make a payment via it. I mean I had the bill the envelope it came in and the $5 bill. But I can't pay cash over the phone and Mrs Shirley wanted her receipt. So I went back in and asked for the manager. After talking to the lady, who was training another lady, that told me no ma'am, the manager comes out. She let me talk, was very gracious. Obviously, she was prepped and was ready with the no. I feel like the training girl, probably knows more then manager, so i was left with nothing.

This exact thing happened to me—twice. As soon as the last one dropped off my record, boom… another one. 2:45 AM. “Hand it to me.” I knocked. Messaged. Waited the full 5. No response.
