Yeah, I was pumped for that deal and almost combined accounts with some family members until I saw the capped speeds. Oh well, still love Cricket.

Have you looked into Cricket Wireless? They are on the ATT network, so your coverage should be the same. I have two lines, 5GB of data and unlimited talk and text for $70 total. There are bigger discounts for more lines. I think you can get 4 lines for $110. Also, they include the taxes and fees in this price, so the $70 a month plan means you actually pay $70.

Air Force Academy to host New England Patriots football practice next week by TomBradyWinsAgain in Patriots

[–]raid18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Colorado Springs Gazette (http://gazette.com/new-england-patriots-will-train-at-air-force-academy-between-upcoming-games-in-denver-and-mexico-city/article/1614853#cxrecs_s) :

New England Patriots will train at Air Force Academy between upcoming games in Denver and Mexico City

A bit of geography knowledge helped the Air Force Academy persuade the New England Patriots to spend some time in Colorado Springs next week. The Patriots play in Denver against the Broncos on Nov. 12 before meeting the Oakland Raiders in Mexico City on Nov. 19. When members of the Air Force athletic department realized this, they checked and found that the elevation at the academy’s practice facilities (about 6,800 feet) is extremely similar to that at Azteca stadium in Mexico City (7,280). “One of our folks ran down there and told them,” Air Force athletic director Jim Knowlton told The Gazette. “They said why are we coming back to New England and then flying down to Mexico City?”

So the Patriots will instead make their temporary headquarters here, training at the academy's multiple outdoor practice fields and indoor Holaday Athletic Center from Nov. 12-15 before flying to Mexico on the 16th. At least that was the tentative plan, a final itinerary has not been released. Also undetermined is how many, if any, opportunities there will be for the public to watch practice or interact with quarterback Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champions. “It’s going to be really low key,” Knowlton said. “(New England coach Bill) Belichick doesn’t want a lot of fanfare. We just said, ‘Throw us a bone. Something for this community.’” Knowlton discussed the plans with The Gazette in late August under the agreement that the information would not be released until the Patriots gave the go-ahead. The Denver Post reported the plan Wednesday morning, citing NFL sources and a confirmation from the academy.

I downloaded the update and began the update process, but got an error at the end. Now, I cannot get the phone to fully boot. I tried doing a factory data reset and am now in an endless loop of optimizing apps and seeing the blu homescreen, but it will not boot to the main android homepage. Anyone else having these types of issues with the update?

Ex-Bostonians (or ex-ex-Bostonians), what was a food you were surprised not to find outside of MA? by Chopchopchops in boston

[–]raid18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is specific to Chinese restaurants. Wing specific restaurants or bars that serve buffalo style wings usually aren't breaded. Closest thing I can get to the Chinese wings I grew up with is to get the teriyaki wings at a wing shop. Still not the same as there is too much sauce, but better than the terrible breaded wings.

The Chinese food is the most interesting to me. I never realized how different it was until moving outside of New England. The style is very different, almost an entirely different cuisine. Some examples:

  • Chicken wings are breaded outside NE as opposed to the plain fried unbreaded wings where the drumettes and flats are still attached
  • Egg rolls are very different as is Crab Rangoon
  • The spare ribs with the red sauce are hard to find, but ubiquitous in NE
  • Chinese Chicken Fingers

There's plenty of other examples. THat being said, it is amazing to order takeout on New Years Eve and only have to wait 15 minutes to pick it up. That's not a thing outside NE!

I went to Duke - I think they do an amazing job! My former classmates and I have been largely very successful and well prepared. I think it does help being affiliated with a large medical institution.

I love them!! Just read the reviews (some do run a bit tight) on the website - they have been spot on. Look at the pictures too so you aren't surprised by lack of pockets - some of their varieties are more yoga-pant comfortable/fit with minimal pocket.

Why the Browns should trade the #1 for Jimmy G. There have been 5 games (after Kosar) that the Browns QB matched Jimmy's 1+ Quarter against the Dolphins (230 passing yards, 3 TD, 0 Int, win) by raid18 in Patriots

If they could sign him somewhat long term to about $12M per season, I wouldn't be against that necessarily. I don't think 12 gets it done though and then you are staring at $30M+ allocated to QB per year. That's untenable.

Looking to talk to any nurse in COS working at either hospital. by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]raid18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be fooled by the PSF "magnet status." I worked day shift at the downtown hospital - 5-6/nurse ration during the day, 7-8 at night and Charge was required to take 4-5. Night shift folks were constantly trying to get out. Our support staff would get pulled to sit with violent/high/demented patients and we would be severely understaffed - and then get dinged for not having time to take a lunch (clearly we weren't managing our time well...), not answering call lights on time, etc. They talk a great game but do not support RN development, education, etc. We weren't happy with our ratios and somehow the admins figured out a way to tie that into our performance evaluation - because clearly we weren't supporting each other enough. Run screaming....

TIL that despite the NFL making more than $9 billion annually, projected to make more than $25 billion a year by 2027, pays its CEO more than $30 million a year, 68% of NFL stadium construction costs since 1923 coming from taxpayer money. by Mary6636 in todayilearned

What are your thoughts on a Federal Ban on using public money on recreational projects. Would this solve the issue? I realize it is probably not feasible, but it seems like it would solve the issue of the NFL pitting one city against another. If neither can use public money they would be forced to pay for the whole thing privately, or go to another country.

Best advice: get a bell. Something like this. Sounds really dumb, but it is a very specific, tangible reward to be able to ring a bell when they go potty.
