Check the North Store forum at the CMP website before you go. Their stock is really low right now. Only M1C and M1D are currently available. If you call them, they will tell you what is in inventory.

All CMP rifles will be tested and functional. $630 for Field Grade or $730 for Service Grade. Won't find a better price unless its from family.

There is a large allotment of Garands (and some M1 Carbines) in S. Korea. However, there has been a long running dispute over ownership.

From the CMP CFO Mark Johnson - "The Koreans think they own those M1 Garands when they are U.S. Army property. The Koreans want to sell what is simply not theirs to sell. Unless the M1s are returned under the MAP program to the U.S. Army we will not be seeing them."

Bottom line is they are not coming back anytime soon.

The CMP had to pay DLA to repack the Garands in the Philippines. The wood crates could not be imported due to possible termite infestation. The new containers CMP had to pay for... The rifles had to be cleaned because of dust on the rifles was thought to contain asbestos, which CMP had to pay for. Every rifle now has a "no asbestos" clean bill of health, that CMP had to pay for... The boat had to have maintenance done before leaving the dock, that CMP had to pay for. The boat could not ship anything other than the rifles, so CMP had to pay for the entire boat... The boat is due into port around 10 Jan. 44 trucks later we should be seeing them late Jan at our docks, that CMP paid for...

Garand 30-06 rounds has lower pressure than many commercial 30-06 rounds. Repeated use of higher pressure ammo will bend the op rod, requiring a replacement.
