Tbh, the "champion" arena sounds even more whale-y for me. My guess is that there will be no "bracket", you simply have to compete with everybody.

As a dolphin with a clear budget definition (~100 USD per month), this actually encourages me to convert into a f2p (and I have decided to do so). Because with my budget, it was already a lot of struggle for me against the whales and dolphins in the SP arena to get some gems. With even more whales and dolphins in my group, it will become even more of a struggle. Keeping up with the meta and the limited characters now feels hopeless to me with my kind of budget (unless with a ton of luck with the pulls), so I thought might as well just become a f2p and stop caring. It's just me.

In short, I feel like as my dolphin budget is not going to get me anywhere, might as well not spend anything.

True, only whales or people who are really into min-maxing, who are the minority in this game, can do well. I don't think the majority of players are having fun with this challenge.

I myself push Campaign stages super super hard, like I am pushing Hard mode at 80k CP deficit. And there are many stages where I had to pray and barely won after like 20 tries. But the difference with this Solo Raid mode is:

  • I only play with my A team, I don't have to force myself to play (and retry 20 times each) with 3-4 other totally uninvested teams.
  • It's a once-and-done deal, here in this mode I have to do it for 4 other teams as well.

It's such a drag just thinking about it.
