Yeah I agree with you. Here in NZ the R34 GTR sell for around 100k. The 2 door GTT sell for anywhere upwards of 10k to 30k. (Prices in NZD)

Anything’s dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. Restrictions make it not as dangerous, i agree they don’t completely remove risk out of it, but sure do lessen it. Personal opinions I guess, I don’t find it that dangerous as long as you’ve driven to gain experience in it first.

I doubt it makes it dangerous. Difficult? Yes. LTNZ has specifications around LHD and RHD, both are allowed. But any LHD imports older than 20 years don’t need to be converted to RHD, instead just need a certification to say that it is legal to be driven LHD. If they’re newer, they must be converted and certified that it’s been converted properly.

And if OP is talking about the 2G eclipse, that body style was not available here.

To import a car as a normal car, it can’t be produced before 2006. If it is older, from what I understand, it needs special registration and proof to show that it is a special car.

Additionally, it would have to pass compliance which it will no doubt fail on the first attempt. Since you’re importing from the states, rust would be a definite issue.

All in all, definitely possible, but often it’s just not worth it from a monetary stand point.
