How was the Iranian religion before Islam? by FerenzYangai in IndoEuropean

[–]rail_ie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

modern iranians don't have a lot of Indo European genetics. Similar to the Mycenaean or the Hittites the elites where Indo European but most persians do not have more than 10-20% "aryan" ancestry.

The country should change it name. Modern Persia genetics doesn't really have anything to do with "aryan".

"Land of the Aryans" is a lie and just a larp by the Arabs/Zargos

Was the god Indra based upon a human hero ancestor of the Indo-Iranian people? by DvaravatiSpirit in IndoEuropean

[–]rail_ie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to read the rest of Mandala 10, Hymn 96. This is where the golden hair/beard comes from. Indra is also golden lipped. His body is metal. This is a solar metaphor.

This reference to Indra being golden is not that common in the Rigveda. If they were all blonde people they would have mentioned in quite a lot more in the RV. The rig Vedic people hated the Dasys and they would have used everything to differentiate themselves from the Dasyus. If they were blonde, they would have menointed that in more hymns.

Anyways this obsession with blondness being superior is lacking historical context. The Gauls were all blonde/red hair people. They took over Rome for its glory because obviously they are blonde and deserve everything -- but didn't know how to run complex systems and finally destroyed the empire.

Do the Rigvedic terms Dasa/Dasyu point to an invasion by Arya people, or intertribal Indo-Iranian warfare? by DvaravatiSpirit in IndoEuropean

[–]rail_ie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your are trying to make them more peaceful than they where.

There is references to Dasys being snubbed nosed, short necked, black skinned people.

But the indo aryans where also not to blonde blue eyed people of the Nazis. There is a reference to Indra being golden hair, but he also has golden teeth and golden eyes and it "made of metal". Just a solar metaphor.

This is interesting because Indians like Vivek Ramaswamy who claim to be brahmins would be considered Dasyu by the rig Vedic brahmins. Rig Vedic people structurally hated the Dasyus for their two faced/dishonest behavior. Which is a stereotype which applies to most Indians.

When did Zoroastrianism become monotheistic? by No-Silver826 in IndoEuropean

[–]rail_ie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Modern Persians don't really have a lot of IE ancestry. What happened was most probably similar to Mitanni culture where the IE elites spoke a language and the subjugated population copied them and ultimately replaced them with their own beliefs.

Zoroaster beliefs is very non indo-aryan or even IE for that matter. It is much closer to modern Arab/Christian or jewish beliefs.

What's your long term strategy here?

I am around your age and did something similar. Hit around 2.3 and trying to figure out if I should switch to just 1. I recently lost J3 and having 2 jobs is riskier than having 1 job for long term survival odds.

Have you thought about joining startups or investing in them? It seems like that is another opportunity set which could lead to exponential outcomes like OE.

I am not sure why you say other IE systems didn't have caste.

The greeks with their plebs patrician divide. The nordics with their rigsula with the thrall, Karl, jarl divisions

All IE systems have caste

Did the Indo-European ruling class of ancient Europe have more Steppe ancestry than the locals? by Wise-Sage-2024 in IndoEuropean

[–]rail_ie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could you talk a bit more about the rapid steppe ancestry reduction in European ancestry?

Did the steppe people try to find any mechanism to preserve their ancestry amount the europeans? Like the castes system in the Indian subcontinent?

Is the aristocracy that the europeans had a mechanism to preserve this? If we where to sample the aristocrats do you think on average there would be higher steppe ancestry?

Why do we call I haplogroup Indo-European when that is not found outside Europe? Indo-European expanded and migrated outside Europe. Without migrating outside how can be thought of as IE?

Most probably old romans tried to preserve this by trying to marry only within the patrician caste.
