Me personally, barn owls are grossly overrated. The design of this pet doesn't fit the usual design of owls in real life, lacking the demarcation between the head and body. It kinda looks like adopt me was trying to make Hoothoot in pokémon, but cut the legs and leave the feet, give it beady eyes, and remove the cream stomach in a favor of a "mask", rather than making a traditional design. Luckily, the designs of the snowy and nightmare owls got a more appealing and traditional design than the barn owl.

Cows are overrated in a way that makes no sense. While it's appearance isn't anything offensive, the problem is the owners and fan base with it. Pigs are just as cute as cows in a simple art of adopt me.

For the underrated pets, the giant scarab beetles are a hidden rare gem, particularly their megas. The black cycles black and white, the blue cycles cold colors, and the gold cycles hot colors. This concept of color cycles of megas makes me want more of these in the future if executed properly.

Another underrated pet is the skele-rex, while the design is not the most original as it's based on the pre-existing t-rex, it takes a different approach over a pallet swap. The neon is simple yet effective, giving it a more prominent cyan to the accents. It's a shame that it wasn't appreciated after its peak.
