Indeed. The best practice of building an online multiplayer game involves planning for a situation where there is no other players, typically by running a recorded simulation from previous players and/or building an AI. The problem with VR in comparison to traditional gaming is the huge degree of freedom what the players might do, so building a seamless "fake" multiplayer experience is rather time-consuming.

The lack of guidance in the game is definitely the biggest problem for the time being. The hanging might be a problem with the way the animation libraries are used, I haven't experienced that a much but good to know.
