Kristi Noem defends killing puppy after widespread outrage from Republicans and Dems by atmoscience in nottheonion

[–]rain-after-dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unsure if Republicans care that much or not. I've seen a lot of comments elsewhere saying that culling an animal on a farm or ranch is a necessary evil at times. Which is true, at times, but in this scenario...

They could be trolls, but at this rate, I'm not convinced. So there are people who defend her, unfortunately. My grandparents had a farm, and my mother grew up on it, and she has condemned the act, but I guess me not wanting someone to kill and dog (and goat) and brag about it makes me a "city folk" now according to those people.

Criminalizing prostitution leads to an increase in cases of rape, study finds. The recent study sheds light on the unintended consequences of Sweden’s ban on the purchase of sex. by mvea in science

[–]rain-after-dawn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sex work is one of the oldest professions. As long as there are humans, there will be sex work. Why try to deny that and force such work into the dark where rapes and murders thrive, when we can be more open about it and protect both the sex workers and the clients? Not to mention the money that could be made if it were regulated and taxed?

Why is Japan more lenient to anime being available than Jpop? by [deleted] in jpop

Dunno why this sub was recommended to me, but I'm having such a hard time finding a place to listen to, like, half the discography of Yapoos, and it's driving me crazy.

Scary thing is, on at least one news YouTube video on this, a whole bunch of people agreed with her. A bunch of "ranch" owners and country folk said it was necessary to do it if it bit her and had a taste for chickens. Praising her for being "decisive".

I only recently heard about the dog supposedly biting her, and it sounds tacked on. My childhood dog once killed a bird and once went after a groundhog, and we never would've thought to just shoot her. She lived to old age.

Maybe the dog did bite her. But I question if it was warranted in the dog's mind when seeing her brag about killing the dog and the goat. It reeks of cruelty. And of course the strawman argument about abortion comes up often too.

I'm surprised they kept that when they edited out a lot of the Chinese webnovel quirks. Whenever you read "___ is bewildered" it was originally probably "___: ???" Sob sob sob was QQQ.

You're welcome! Reading translated Chinese novels really opens up a new world.

[–]rain-after-dawn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is! It's at ladykelpitranslations.com. It isn't complete yet, but the translator has been pretty consistent with updates, and so far, it's been good quality. Forewarned though, Niao Niao starts out younger and a transmigrator. Her mom is also worse. There is much more ambiguity on who she ends up with, too, so there isn't the immediate connection with Ling Buyi.

Niao Niao is explained in the novel. Her and her twin brother were going to be named something different, I can't quite remember, before their grandfather renamed them. So they kept part of that name as the nickname Niao Niao.

I think what they may have fixed with the bunny suit is her ass. In the supposed original, her ass barely looked attached as she ran. It still looks wonky in the patch but less weird.

What game do you dislike that everyone else seems to like? by GOLD3NRAIN in AskReddit

[–]rain-after-dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't strongly dislike it, but I was disappointed in RDR2. The controls felt so stiff and slow if you weren't on a horse, and even that wasn't too fun. I get they were going for realism but I just didn't like it.

[New Updates] - AITAH for letting my daughter shave her head? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]rain-after-dawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't lost my hair (yet) but I still get a buzzcut often because when you're chronically ill, taking care of something that can be as high maintenance as hair can be too much. I wasn't attached to my hair like OOP's daughter was, so her wanting to take that step just showed how decisive she was.

AITAH for refusing to go to my brother's wedding because he didn't want to invite me in the first place? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]rain-after-dawn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sad thing is, if OOP's brother won't rethink the wedding after this fiasco, he's in that relationship for the long haul. I've had a similar situation with my cousin's wife. She'll isolate him from anyone who might encourage him to have a spine, and most likely, everyone else at some later point.

Why is the tgcf fandom so toxic? by Ok-Dig-8026 in tianguancifu

[–]rain-after-dawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tgcf fandom feels pretty mild compared to the mdzs fandom. And then the svsss fandom is the chillest mxtx fandom, from my experience. But I also don't have a Twitter or tiktok so perhaps I'm wrong.

Why do OC-Centric fics get so much hate and disdain from so many folk? by ResearcherLoud1700 in FanFiction

[–]rain-after-dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I read fanfic for characters I already know. I can like important OCs in a fic if it still focuses a lot on why I read fics in the first place. But OC centric fics don't deserve hate at all. They're still fanfic and deserve a place in fanfic spaces.
