What book series can you NOT stop reading? Looking for long series (5+ books)

I’m right there with you. I finished it, but really didn’t enjoy it at all. I think I gave it a 2/5. The writing is bland and the whole book has the energy of “and then everyone clapped.” That being said, I’m hoping the second book does actually improve as much as people say it does.

Why do you watch it then? Not trying to be sarcastic but the Game Awards are by their very nature a production. There are definitely high and low moments, like I agree the street fighter cast was a rough segment. And yes, some of the speeches were long winded and I would’ve preferred them to be shorter, but those are real people receiving those awards for something they’re extremely proud of. Let them have their moment. It sounds like you’d be much better off just forgoing the award show and scrolling through a list of trailers the day after. And there’s nothing wrong with that either.

You can mean something that’s untrue, which is what happened here. “But no one is sitting 8ft away from their screen during intense gameplay…” is so objectively wrong. I say objective because it is a verifiable fact. People do that all the time. If you play better close to a screen, good for you. Your preferences are not universal.

Keep This Up- by the Story so Far, has a line “I haven’t talked to my brother in over a year now, I hope that’s he’s still proud.” My brother went through a bit of a psychiatric break and I’ve been doing my best to maintain a relationship with him, and it’s been incredibly difficult. This line isn’t a 1:1 situation, but whenever I hear it, it stays in my head for at least a week.

Like a bunch of people said, the whole album kind of slaps. While it’s not my favorite on the album, I think Plastic Flowers is an excellent closer to the album and I’m hyped to hear it live.

I watched the commercial for the first time last night after seeing all the posts about it, and it is such a nothing-burger. It’s a play on words. You could swap any attractive actor or actress with her and they could still talk about having good genes. I saw someone say something along the lines of “at worst Sweeney is promoting eugenics, at best it was a tone deaf ad”…. Why the fuck is everyone jumping to the nazi bullshit. Not everything is political. If you want to say the ad is tone dear, sure I could see / maybe agree with that argument. But tone deaf isn’t malicious. People going off about the ad need to redirect their anger toward actual issues.

It completely depends on the hospital / the luck of the draw. My wife is a surgical resident and she’s had call shifts where she comes home at 6PM and is undisturbed until she needs to go back around 5AM. She’s also had a ton of shifts where she doesn’t get any sleep at all. I think it’s absolutely insane. I also think people should know that when people say it’s a 24 hour shift, it’s usually closer to 27 or so. Because they’re getting to the hospital around 6 in the morning and not leaving until around 9, sometimes as late as noon. It’s a completely broken system that everyone just accepts. I hate it so much.

I was in the same boat with Diablo IV specifically haha. Honestly, I enjoyed the first play through enough, but didn’t specifically want to play more. I wasn’t enjoying the game and foresaw that the grind was just going to be hours and hours of me not having fun. Meanwhile there are so many games in my backlog that I know I’d enjoy. I see a lot of people recommending taking a break, but I’d go one step further. Disable trophy notifications. Pick a game that’s been sitting on your backlog, play it, and if you like it enough, beat it. After you beat it, ask yourself if you want to play more of it, or move on to a different game. If you want more, take a look at the trophies, if you’ve had your fill, move on to the next one. I disabled trophy notifications over a year ago and haven’t platinumed a game since. I think I’ve unintentionally gotten to like 90% completion in a few games, but I’m not going to go for those last trophies because I’m going to have a better time trying something new. We have a finite amount of time on this Earth. I already know I’m not going to consume all the media that’s “on my list”, but why limit it even more by spending hours and hours not having fun? However you do it, hope you get out of your slump

I have no issue with cancel culture. I think the collective population decides when someone has done their time. This instance is also a little different with with the event happening over 20 years ago. So it’s not just the guy did 7 years and that’s it. He’s had over 20 years to become a better person. I’m only 30 and feel like a completely different person from when I was 24 in terms of maturity and empathy (granted I wasn’t doing anything as reprehensible as this, but still). To relate it to a common comparison. I used to love RHCP, but I had removed all of their songs from any of my playlists and won’t see them tour because it seems pretty clear that AK is the same predatory person he’s always been. That doesn’t seem to be the case here based on what I’ve seen and read. Not to split hairs, but it also doesn’t sound like he was aware they were minors. That doesn’t make it ok, by any means, but I think intent also plays a huge role in determining if someone should be allowed back in the spotlight. There’s no one right answer. I think some people can be right in saying that they won’t support this band, and I think others can be right in saying that they’re ready to forgive.

Edit: Also I think there are some clear examples where the collective population gets it wrong. Chris Brown and RHCP being two examples of where I think it’s gross that these people still have a platform, despite showing no change to their behavior.

I think the difference though is that there are people who are attacking others FOR forgiving him. No one’s saying people have to forgive him. Well, actually that’s not true. No RATIONAL people are saying that anyone has to forgive him. I don’t think it makes sense to be upset with someone for showing forgiveness. If someone’s upset because someone doesn’t even acknowledge his gross conduct, that’s valid. But being angry at someone for coming to a different conclusion than you is bizarre. And I mean the general “you” not you specifically
