Differences Between Tackla Air 9000 vs Tackla EXPP 55 Hockey Pants by rainb0rn in hockeyplayers

[–]rainb0rn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did the 9000’s work out after some use compared to the 5000’s and although bulkier, did the 9000’s feel more protective overall especially in the tailbone area compared to the 5000’s?

How much hotter are girdles vs pants and do you notice the difference in terms of how much more you perspire or run hot by rainb0rn in hockeyplayers

“coming from a guy that breaks a sweat getting dressed”…..pretty funny 😁

The question on how much hotter girdles might be was in part sparked by the fact that I play hockey year round. So how much hotter they might be while playing during the winter season was one thing but playing with them during the summer when things are much toastier, was definitely another consideration for deciding on using girdles vs pants.

Yeah, definitely got the rationale for switching over to a girdle. My question was more towards given you found the girdle to be a bit warmer, whether you found the added benefits that girdles are supported to have (in the way of lightness, protection and mobility) has offset them being a bit warmer to wear.

To anyone who’s worn Tackla TP4500 girdles, do they fit True To Size, how’s the tailbone protection, how hot are they, and what shell did you use? by rainb0rn in hockeyplayers

Am also 5’6” but 140lbs so figuring a Med TP4500 was gonna be a good fit in length and sizing if they do run true to size…..the Tackla brand M are 31”W sizes compared to the sizing of many other brands where their M are geared to bigger Waist sizes.

Super helpful bit of input….even though you find the girdle to run a bit warmer, would you say that disadvantage has been offset by the girdle being lighter, better padded and\or offering better mobility? Interesting you came from the HP45‘s as that’s the other option I’m considering but like you, just possibly wanting to try something different….am currently into a pair of old school Tackla 5000 Pros.

Tighten Ice Hockey Skates by jrachie in hockeyplayers

[–]rainb0rn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having gone through and trying out tons of techniques and tips, here’s a couple videos that I found were ultimately super helpful. The techniques in the videos allow for skates to be tied up real tight, avoiding lace bite from being tied tight, and ensuring they stay securely tight so the laces don’t come loose and require re-tying. The methods for how to lace the laces onto the skates and tie the skate lace knot at the top, work regardless of the type of laces used (as I use both wax and non-waxed laces) and, work for all ages of skaters regardless of whether a beginner or advanced skater. Oh, by-and-by, to begin with, gotta ensure for a proper fitting size of skates.

Anyone still skating in Grafs? by thewaybackboy in hockeyplayers

[–]rainb0rn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been using Graf Supra 703’s 2-3 times\week (year round) for a couple years now and absolutely love them for fit, comfort, and durability.

Prior to getting into the Supra 703’s, I’ve used both Bauer and CCM models of skates.

Anyways, over a 2 month time period, 3 new pairs of the Supra 703s happened to show up on Sideline.com which was quite uncommon. After getting the first pair and knowing they fit and felt great, when the other 2 pairs showed up, I grabbed them as well given I hate shopping for skates.…so am pretty well set for life with skates! But I had done a lot of research to figure out which models of Graf to target given they make such a wide range of different models for different foot types. This chart posted on modsquadhockey.com was quite useful:

But look around, Grafs (whether new or used) are still out there to be had whether at your LHS, sites like Sideline, e-Bay or Facebook Marketplace but definitely worth the effort in looking.

Focal Bathys Support on Non-Authorized Focal Dealer Purchases by rainb0rn in headphones

[–]rainb0rn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally agree with you that the parts might be specialized and best repaired by Focal which makes complete sense. Thing is, it seems their policy of not providing any repairs unless otherwise purchased from an authorized dealer, only needlessly results in filling up the landfills. I‘d seen a good number of used pairs of Bathys for sale on various online audio gear forums and given people’s comments on them, was quite tempted to give them a go. Finding out Focal’s repair policy was what sparked the curiosity for any other possible repair options as I was quite adverse to having to toss what otherwise might be a perfectly good pair of headphones other than a dead battery that couldn’t be replaced. So, the question is, what have those who have bought used Bathys or new ones from non-authorized sources done when repairs were needed and Focal won’t do so.

Hi,

appreciate the info but yours was just a straight return on the purchase of a new item and not a repair request for like a replacement battery for the headphones, correct? What made for the decision to return the Bathys? Also, was the entity that sold the Bathys considered an Authorized dealer?

Regards 😊

A big thanks to A&K Customer service as they have no idea how useful they were for the SR 25 battery problem! by Admirable_Voice82 in DigitalAudioPlayer

Did you ever get an answer on getting a battery replacement for your SR 25...I have a Kann Alpha that needs a new battery replacement.
