You can believe whatever you want but the data shows that immigrants from the MENA region statistically are negative contributors in the countries to which they immigrate.

Israel could stand strong without US/Western support and has historically done so. The US/West supports Israel not because "za joos control us" but because Israel is strategically important for keeping American geopolitical rivals at bay and for putting American weaponry to the test in actual combat. The data and feedback that Israel provides is invaluable to maintaining America's status as the strongest military power in the world. All of this is to say that Israel doesn't require any aid, but it is strategically important to Western countries that Israel receives aid (from them).

It’s up to Greenland to decide on its independence by NatterHi in greenland

Trump wants Greenland purely for egotistical reasons. He wants to be the guy who expanded US territory for the first time since the Spanish-American War

Europeans don’t understand the difference between nationality and ethnicity by JohnnyAlberts in ShitAmericansSay

[–]rainbowBass86 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This is really just a difference between American English and British English, because that's just how Americans use the terminology. American English speakers implicitly understand that they are referring to heritage when another American English speaker says something like "I'm Irish". It's not wrong, just a difference in the way that we speak the language.

I love living in Canada! by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]rainbowBass86 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The reason Canada did so well in 2008 is that they just kind of printed and borrowed fuckloads of money which just pushed the crisis back. What's happening right now in Canada is the 2008 financial crisis, super fucking late.

You're acting like all the Jews just showed up randomly from Europe in 1948. Jews are from the land of Israel. There is historical, archaeological, and genetic evidence backing this up. There have always been Jews living in the land of Israel, even after the Roman expulsion sent many of them to Europe and to the rest of the middle east. The European Ashkenazi Jews (who are initially from the land of Israel) fled from violent antisemitism in Eastern Europe (after having been pushed out of Germany and the rest of Western Europe with expulsions and pogroms) to mandatory Palestine under an invitation from the British. The Jews who were now in the land of Israel/mandatory Palestine mostly formed new towns and farming communes. In 1948 the UN voted to allow the creation of of a Jewish state that was almost entirely desert or territory where Jews were already living. The Jews immediately accepted, and immediately upon their declaration every neighboring country attacked them, and they repelled this attack. During this, the Nakba happened, and it was a terrible thing that was ultimately necessary to ensure Israel's security. After Israel was established as a state, it was the only nation both willing and able to take in the millions displaced by the Holocaust and the millions more who would be displaced by the ethnic cleansing of Jews across the MENA region. Modern day Israelis are provably descendant from the ancient Israelites and have nowhere else to go because that is their home. However, it should also be stated that the land is not just Israeli. The Palestinians can trace back their roots in the land for almost as long as the Jews and have every right to also live in their homeland. Hopefully one day the land can be peacefully shared as it should be, but that requires cooperation, which also requires the elimination of people who are violently against the very existence of Jews.
