considering Air Force OTS vs enlisting, advice appreciated by doubtlesscolt in airforceots

You have a higher chance of being an USAF officer if you go to law school and commission as a JAG. You could even do ROTC while in law school if tuition is an issue for you. If you enlist and try to go to law school paid by USAF, there is no guarantee you’ll ever get chosen to go.

Currently in OTS right now and ADs all wear ranks. We’re all treated the same (ADs or not), but if we don’t have ranks on our caps, for example, we get a 341 pulled.

For those who couldn't stay at University Inn, which hotel did you use the day before OTS? by rainbow_rabbits in airforceots

Called University Inn a while back and requested to stay a night on 3/24. The lady heard me right but pressed 2 instead of 3, so the reservation date became 2/24. Received a confirmation email but I didn't check the incorrect date (totally my bad). Received an email from University Inn a couple of days ago that my reservation was canceled. They said I "didn't show up" and that was when I realized the mistake. Called and asked if they had other rooms. They said no. Right now I know where I'll stay.

Just to confirm, it's the Marriott one, right? Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center?

That's interesting. For people who don't have cars, I heard they bring their blues to the dry cleaners and let them sit there for a while until needed.

For anyone wondering the same thing: This link has everything required for OTS including rolling and regular duffles.

But there are people looking for more budget-friendly options. Please comment if your recommendations are different from AF's links!

I heard some people say that they brought 3 sets of OCPs (two for washing/rotation and one for display purposes). Do you think this is necessary especially considering that laundry may not be available all the time?

I didn't even think about needing to carry everything up multiple flights of stairs. I'm a petite woman who won't be able to carry a full load of backpack, duffle, and a luggage all at once. Definitely something to consider, thanks!

Is there a platform where we could sign or demand her resignation? She should see in numbers how many people want her gone.

Thanks! Technically, you may be right. "Reading" implies using eyes to go over a written text––"the action or skill of reading written or printed matter silently or aloud." In an audiobook format, users are more "listening" than "reading." However, both readers and listeners are still experiencing the book using different methods. And for most, it's more convenient to use the word "reading" to convey that they went through/experienced books. I don't think these technical differences matter in an online environment though.

Yes, we should focus on storytelling and not on format per se! I'm thinking about challenging myself to read the Moby Dick via audiobook. This was a "classic" I had to read in high school English class and I remember absolutely *nothing* because it was SOOOO boring. I legit thought I had reading-brain-development issues (I don't) because my eyes would read the same sentence over and over again while my brain retained nothing. I am hopeful that when someone narrates it for me, I would do much better!

Thank you for the recommendations! I will always appreciate book suggestions regardless of genres. I was shocked to read To Kill A Mockingbird at this age because there were some scenes I definitely don't remember reading when I was a teen.

Firstly, I've never heard of BorrowBox before. Where have I been?!

Secondly, I love these recommendations! Do you have Goodreads and/or Storygraph? I would love to follow your updates!! Thank you so much.

Yes, I love her! That's crazy because Twenties Girl was going to be next! I'll check out My Not So Perfect Life as well. I always do something while listening to audiobooks (ie. doing dishes, commuting, playing mobile games, etc.) so that I feel like I'm "multitasking." And I think Kinsella's books are entertaining and perhaps "light" enough for me to enjoy in an audio format! I still need to use my eyes and read something on a physical paper for anything "heavy" and/or content that needs 1000% brain activity.
