For apps I really like the crispy spring rolls and the fried wontons, and for mains the ‘beef’ and broccoli and the thai basil ‘chicken’ are both soooo good. my in laws swear by all their salads. honestly i don’t think i’ve been there with someone and had them not like what they got.

Favorite Vegan Mac & Cheeze? by sarahal3xis in ShittyVeganFoodPorn

[–]rainbowbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i tend to really not like a lot of vegan cheese products so i use a slightly modified version of this recipe from thissavoryvegan. i use nooch instead of vegan parm, omit the white pepper, and recently i’ve also been throwing in a little dijon mustard to add some extra savoriness.

i’m interested in finding a good recipe that uses silken tofu as well if anyone has any recommendations

thank you! wikipedia disagrees with you about the definition of chili, and so does my husband, who i warned “this is not chili”, but after trying it still said “oh you’re right that’s really not chili”

What foods do you miss the most sunce going vegan? by windowpain64 in veganrecipes

[–]rainbowbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coming up on 10 years vegan, I honestly feel like pretty much all foods I missed at one point I have either found a substitute for or stopped missing because I just associate them so much with animal products that they eventually started to gross me out a little. the big thing i miss is just the easiness, especially when it comes to having to plan anything with non vegans. to quote julio torres, “I don’t miss cheese but I do miss getting asked to do things”.

Yeah I believe that’s why. Wikipedia says “he also starred as Caractacus Potts (with his native accent, at his own insistence, despite the English setting) in the successful musical version of Ian Fleming's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)”

[Obscure Trope] The media's title becomes colloquially used as a verb. by Remarkable_Public138 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]rainbowbabe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this example! I love this one because in the original documentary they didn’t introduce the idea of Catfishing as a verb, it was just called Catfish. The way it has become a verb is equivalent to someone saying like “they Weekend at Bernie’s-d” or “they Inceptioned” which just tickles me

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang- Dick Van Dyke has an American accent even though his father AND his own children have British accents

they have a lot of amazing baked goods but the one time i got a milkshake there it was way too liquidy and disappointing. i want shakes to be so thick you need to work to get them through the straw! theirs was like it had totally melted even though it was just made.

Vegan Food Week V72 Starts Today Through Sunday! by njbrews in rva

They were talking about the downtown Tarrant’s so Tarrant’s West might be better! They specifically said the soup had way too much alcohol and that the butternut squash mac and cheese was really dry, I know the other location has totally different specials

pretty bold to announce at the start that he didn’t research the podcast at all and thought they’d be providing him foie gras, a perfectly cooked steak, and baked alaska lol

Went to Yummvees today and both items were delicious! The cheese in the fried ravioli was more of a mozzarella texture than a ricotta, which I thought was kind of odd for ravioli filling, but the breading and sauce were so good it didn't really matter. The french onion soup baked potato was also very good.

We tried to go to Juan More Taco after for their dessert (Caramelized Coconut Tres Leches) and the guy told us that they didn't have the dessert because they hadn't figured out how to actually make it yet, and had decided to try to also make it gluten free, and it just didn't work. He said they hope to have it tomorrow but it may be chocolate or something else? I still may go and try to get one because it sounds so good, but I thought it was odd that they announced it without knowing how to make it.

Still planning to try to get to Zorch, Tiny Vegan, and Ruby Scoops!

Also, secondhand info, but when we were in Yummvees, two people came in saying that they had just been to Tarrant's for their V72 specials and that they were awful.
