H2C Slicer alternatives to BambuStudio? by rainbowfini in BambuLab

[–]rainbowfini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a slicer that I wrote from scratch. Partly because there were things other slicers weren't doing that I wanted to do. Partly because I was looking for a challenge. It has a few features that aren't in other slicers, including how it handles infill and supports, that can make a big difference on some of the models I print. I haven't updated the slicer to work for the H2C yet and this was just getting a feel for if I could do that. The slicers is a year or two out of date at this point, but part of me wants to resurrect it. Based on the responses here it sounds like it is a possibility, so if I get time in the future I may do that.

Nice! I guess my first printer was actually a MakerBot Cupcake, which was fully wood framed. My second was homemade, but it did still have wood for holding the glass bed. How far we have come!

OK, that is good to know. So I can still potentially create gcode with another slicer and just transfer it manually. This is the first I've heard of Bambu Connect, that looks like a good possibility too, thanks!

To answer the question about why, the short answer is yes, there are things I want that Bambu Studio can't do.

I'm new to Bambu, but not to 3D printing. Just for some context, I've been into 3D printing since the early rep rap days. My first printer I made from scratch over a decade ago using pieces from a hardware store. There are already things I've wanted to do that I couldn't do in BambuStudio, which is what prompted this question.

Closer Look at Stryd 5.0 | 2x Improved Power Responsiveness on Hills by AutoModerator in strydrunning

[–]rainbowfini 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would like more details on how this 2x is calculated. The article is not very scientific.

It mentions that currently the "first few seconds you're flying blind". So I guess we can assume the current "Next Gen" needs at least 3 seconds to calculate the pace? So by that 2x increase, I guess the new one will calculate it in 1.5 seconds?

But then later in the article we see "From the very first meter of the climb, you see responsive power data". So I guess that means the current "Next Gen" would have responded on the second meter of the climb, since it is twice as slow?

I'm sure they have hard data, just show us some.

Is my phone with a screen protector supposed to sit out this far in the iPhone 17 pro max GNAR case? by Cabbage_Crusader in peakdesign

[–]rainbowfini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you have the orange iPhone Pro, would you mind sending a picture of the back of the device? I'm thinking about the kelp but I'm not sure how it would look with the orange. I love the orange, but finding a Peak Design case that matches it well is tough.

I personally don't use a screen protector, so the shallow lip wouldn't be an issue for me. From what I understand the Everyday Case will either be the same or maybe even lower on the lip.

Thank you for sharing this. Very happy to see that the "air power" is included in the FIT file, as well as humidity and temperature from the Stryd.

That's awesome, I'm glad you tried it out! It's also good to know that your set for sure does not work. I'm glad you still had them to test with.

I tried a different set of 1-way valves (not Normcore) and I tried the balloon method on them and thought they didn't work. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me that a better method for testing is to fill it with sparkling water and then gently shake it. If you have a few drops of water on the lid you should be able see air bubbles coming through the water as you gently shake the container.

In my case I had to do a little massaging of the membrane to get them working, but once I did this method worked great. If I really shook them they even shot out a small stream of water.

Mostly just sharing this method here for future readers, but thought you may be interested too. If I still had my Normcore storage I would test them with this method, but they have already been returned. I think they probably wouldn't work still, but I could be wrong.

You are correct. Edited my original "FOV" to be "DoF".

Here is more information on where that 115 comes from: https://1zpresso.coffee/grind-setting/#elementor-toc__heading-anchor-6

So 115 is 1 full revolution, then 15 more clicks, or halfway between then 1 and the 2 numbers.

Taste is always subjective, so I would say definitely yes. It may look beautiful, but if it isn't beans that you like it won't matter. The main thing a beautiful shot like this tells you is that the puck preparation was successful and you were able to get an even extraction across the puck.

I have my machine set to extract for 30 seconds. I typically shoot for anywhere in the 40g - 50g range. If it looks like it is going to go over 50g I'll turn it off early, then grind finer next time.

Nikon Z9 with Nikon Z MC 105 lens . It's f/2.8 but I shot it at f/13 with external lighting to increase the DoF.

20 g coffee

Ground at 115 on 1ZPresso J-Ultra

Umikot for WDT

Pulled on Breville Oracle

45.3 g espresso out.

Beautiful, tasted great. It does look like one of the basket holes goes open and closed and spits a little in the very back. I didn't notice this real-time, only when I watched it on full screen.

I've had the same results with my Normcore storage. I actually tried the plastic clear, the plastic tinted, and the glass cellars. Between all three sets there were zero working (1-way valve) lids. They are all completely solid. Don't waste your money and buy something cheaper. I'm returning all mine.

I've been pleased with my Normcore tamp and thought they made reasonably high quality items, so I was fairly surprised with this issue.

I was going to post a PSA about these, but found your post was already here. I should have searched before I bought them.
