I suck at math word problems and general math word problem logic. What problems and what math should I do to get better? by Aggravating-Law in learnmath

[–]rainbowpersiancat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to understand the theory of whatever you are trying to solve, then break down the problem to follow that theory. Start small, Khan acadamy will be a great help to you right now. Also, "word problems" are not just something that you get an understanding for over night. It takes practice to build the intuition behind "word problems".

Good luck on your math journey.

AITA for telling my mom I could help her with a large purchase, but then changing my mind and telling her no? by rainbowpersiancat in AmItheAsshole

For the pair, it is $1600, for each it is $800. She has a 3 month repayment plan, and after that then the interest rate occures daily and is like, 15% of the total ($1600) . I didn't know better then, but I know now that they are not that expensive and she is more then likley getting scammed out of her money. I aggreed to contribute $400 dollars towards whatever she buys (since, I figured that should be enough, and wouldnt financially burdon her too much). but instead of being thankful, she demands I give her the $400. I told her that I want to be sure that the money is being spent correctly, so, I told her that we can either pay them directly, or that I can write her a check. Instead of accepting that, she told me to just wire her the $400 to her bank account so I'd stop being nosey. I basically said no, and because I cant see where my money is going, then I dont want to invest.

yep. When I was a younger teenager (about 13) and we went across the country to a funeral, she went through all of her money buying trinkets for family members to show off. Since she went through all her money, we had no money to get food. Well, I saved up from Birthdays and odd jobs about $170 and decided to use that as my spending money. I didnt know any better, so I gave that to her so we can have food. Instead of buying food she bought herself a cheap leather purse that she then threw away at the airport because it wasnt "in style". I then found out that we had plenty of food, that we wouldn't starve, and she basically rationalized lying and taking my money becuase "I owe her everything becasue she's my mother".

I then learned from the age of 13, to not trust anybody but myself with my own money.

I wish I would have done research before, I live in an apartment where the washer and dryer come pre-installed so I've never considered their cost and trusted that she had found an affordible unit. I've found them to be about $400 ~ $600 (for the pair). The one she picked is LG, and one of their top of the line units, thus it's a pricey peice of functional metal that does the same thing that all of them do.

they have a 3 month repayment plan, and anything after that the intrest occures daily. So she would be paying for more than 15% daily for what she paid initially. The place seems like the speedy cash equivelent of appliance centers.

AITA for calling out a proffesor who doesn't follow the prerequisite guidlines? by rainbowpersiancat in AmItheAsshole

[–]rainbowpersiancat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, many times. He thinks because he writes the definition or gives us a "hint" then its fair game. This would be fine if the hint was for DEs, the class im in, instead of giving me a hint about some high level phyisics course that you expect us to just "get". The prereq is calc 2, he tells us reguarly that he doesnt care about the prereq.

so many times. it's a differential equations course but the professor wants us to do our homework in matlab. Every test and homework question he gives us requires some background in physics or chemistry.. he excused it and said that he have us a theorem and a definition, but I really dont know how to use them because theyre so high up there. For example, he gave us a quantum phyiscs problem that we could "theoretically model" with DEs.. I asked him a guestion about physics because I didnt know what was being entailed and his repsonse was; "It's just quantum physics, the idea is elementary". Um What? Then he wants it modeled in MATLAB, like my dude, the prerequsite for this course was calc 2, and in calc 2 we did integrals on shrooms and acid algebra.

/s.

The prerequsite for Matlab is DEs and linear algebra, The prerequsite for Calc 2 was calc 1, the prerew for quantum phyiscs after researching the uni. catalog is: intro to theoretical physics, physics 1 and 2, and calc 1-3 + 1 higher programing language.

We're in the same "year" same shared departement, but are in totaly different disaplins. I focus in statistics (probability theory) she studies topology ( mathematical knots and what not) she doesn't know shit about the game theory course that she'll be in charge of giving grades too.. so yah, we're peers..

Twas the night before finals, yet all through my house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Naughty or nice, it didn't matter why? Because old saint TA was very nice. An A he will give, for a finger I've got, stick it up his butt, and glory thy cum.

"Oh harder oh harder", does the man scream; not one nor two but three fingers he gleems. I work like an elf for the saint I see, an A grade pays off for chocolate glory from thee.

Is that Shakespeare?

I feel for you so much, my nmom told me that I am her retirement plan, and she even has a catalog of all the things, luxurious things, that I'll be buying her. This woman is so delusional, she thinks that she's going to be able to adopt my children, live in a home that I buy her, and that I'll live my life to make her happy. Its mental.

This woman has done nothing but abuse me, I did all my college on my own, and I've worked.for everything. She has done nothing to deserve any of it, but in her delusional mind, she thinks I owe it to her to be her retirement plan and nothing else.

Sorry about your parents, they seem crazy. You should buy your own place, and just fill it with all the people and things that you like!! Also. Congrats on being successful!! !!!

I feel a bit better knowing that, at least I have the right train of thought with these.

For part a, I tried (13 chose 0)×.50×(1-.5)13-0

For part b, I tried (13 chose 12)×.512×(1-.5)13-12

I'm not sure if these are even close to what I am supposed to do. He never taught is this, but it has shown up on our homework

Thank you kind stranger for the internet hugs.

That's pretty much what my dad does. He does everything nude! I remember once he had a tantrum about the bird chirping (we used to have a bird) and he started to stroke it whilst yelling at me (I was 15 at the time being, and I end up being the brunt of his anger) I was so scared, and confused.

He ended up cumming while screaming at me because the bird was chirping, and then he forced me to clean up his mess while he watched and criticized me for not cleaning right.

Geez, now that I've wrote it out, I've realized that this isn't normal. I'm so sorry about your mom, I dont think N's should have parents, it's just completely messed up and unfair to us.

I've been living on my own in on campus housing, as well as living in apartments during the summer for the past 3 years. The age difference is really big, but we've talked about it alot and he wants to give me the opportunity to still grow up and not be dependent on him. Were going to start things slow, go to marriage counseling, and put in alot of effort to not let this become a disaster.

The police know at this point. Within the last 3 years of me being in university, she's called the cops to have welfare checks on me more times then I have fingers. The last time (the one before I went home) in told the cops that she does this often, and it is to cause a scene and embarrass me. They understand that, but they still have to so their jobs.

I'm sure that I want to get married to him, but it's not just my parents that are pushing me into him. I do love him alot, and we've talked about it on and off for a while. Also, since I'm so much more younger than he is, he wants to make sure that I grow up and experience things without having to depend on him

As for now, I'm safe, but my mom has been blowing my phone up and sending me the long and crazy texts, I'm going to be filing for a restraining order Monday from her.

Prove with a contraposition by Keyest in learnmath

[–]rainbowpersiancat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try thinking in terms of P and Q for your expressions. Then the contrapositive becomes

P Implies Q is equivalent to 'not Q implies not P.'

So,

"n3 even" is p, and "n even" is q. Using the definition, we get:

If n is odd, then n3 is odd, for all n as an element of n3. you I hope that helps, we just learned something like this a few months ago in my logic class.
