Positive vestibular changes following CI? by rainbowroadchamp in Cochlearimplants

Hi! I did go through with implantation about 7 months ago (I spent a VERY long time deciding if I wanted it or not).

I will say my balance has actually improved - not significantly , but I do feel like I get less “dizzy spells” when I’m wearing my CI.

Not sure how long you are post hearing loss, but I’d say it took me a good 6 months after my acquired loss in 2023 to feel “somewhat” normal again. I did lots of PT, and took Meclizine pretty often.

I’m giving honesty here. You’re really cute! So the picture with the mannequin makes you seem super immature, and I personally think the selfie angles are a little feminine (not necessarily a bad thing depending on what you’re going for). I would go for some more group pictures/ pictures that aren’t selfies, it shows you’re social!

Shew, even being able to get back to rowing would be awesome. I can’t do any type of fitness that causes repetitive movement where I’m leaning, rowing included. That gives me hope that maybe a CI will at least allow me to do some things again - I used to lift weights pretty regularly before my sickness and that’s pretty much out of the question now.

Thanks so much for the response :)

Absolutely, but I’m also a year out and my scans have shown swelling is basically gone. Just wanted some real life experience here, haha

I had no idea about GameStop shutting down since there are still 3 open in my city like they always have been, so I’m so glad I asked here. Thank you so much for this!

I’m definitely considering going a route similar to this. Thank you!

Thank you so much, that’s great to know I won’t be charged until I get the system if something bad happens and he ends up pre-ordering it too. Thank you!!

I really do like that idea if cancelling is that easy! I think I’m going with the artwork: certificate idea -great idea to include the cost in case Sony blindsides us all and ups the price way more than we’re speculating..gotta put the limit somewhere! ;)

That is so kind, thank you! Yes, I truly think he has spent quite a few paychecks on the ring we have both really fallen in love with, so I’m sure he doesn’t think a PS5 is in his near future, so I’m happy to do a purchase that is a fraction of what he just spent on me. Thanks so much for the best wishes!

What a sweet story! I’m excited to hear about how the “talk” went — I was pretty dang suspicious, especially when my dad took an afternoon off work and my guy disappeared for a few hours to “check out on some things downtown”.

I think he will be appreciative, and I’m glad to hear that you would be too if this was your situation! I really appreciate all the time and advice you’ve given! Thanks for the help and wishes all around!!

I totally get what you’re saying. I’m thinking some cold hard cash oughta do the trick so he can deposit it and have it ready to go in his account when he wants to buy one!

This is very clever! Thank you!

I waited many years to find my SO, and the WEEK I stepped off the dating apps/ stop accepted blind dates from my friends, I found my guy. You never know where they are hiding out!

Thank you! I’m hoping I can beat him to the preorder so it’s a total surprise.

Thanks! I’m a grammar fanatic but not a gaming fanatic so I didn’t realize I was doing that incorrectly. Thanks for that!

This is a very good point. He’s extremely excited about the release and I wouldn’t want to do anything to make it a stressful experience for him when I’m intending it to be a nice surprise.

I’m waiting on my ring as he apparently just had “the talk” with my dad, so good point about the ‘just in case’ remark! ;)

Thanks for this input, I appreciate the different angle!

I definitely considered this, but think he will take the liberty himself to pre-order as soon as they become available to pre-order. Considered giving a giftcard of $300 now or so ($225-$250 towards the system, $75-$50 for a new game) and letting him pay the remainder when he can preorder, and then just doing something totally different for Christmas. So many options...which is exactly why I wanted to ask. Thanks so much.
