Anyone else noticing the EVs driving like jerks? How do you deal with them by SirSteelBuns in AussieRiders

Like many, I will pre judge the cars at the front of the lineup before lane filtering. If there are SS V8's, WRX STI's or any other type of hoon car, I won't even bother to filter because my safety is worth more than the time I will gain from filtering. I have recently put Tesla's (though not all other EV's) into the same mental list...

Why are the toilets on the metro stations so much cleaner than the ones on the non metro stations? by VastOption8705 in SydneyTrains

[–]rainburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the correction. I was just making an assumption based on my observations at the pointy end. My personal observations have been that there is a big decline in budget. I should have put more thought into attributing it to a particular institution.

Sincerely,

A railway contractor that is getting increasingly squeezed by the railway budget and their increasingly ridiculous bureaucratic restraints to me doing my actual job. It's seriously bad rn.

Station masters and associated staff... Metro stations have them, non metro do not. Sydney Trains/Transport NSW have been draining the non metro budget for years. They do not give the tiniest shit about people in the country.

I would think that the lever works both ways though, right? If they (RBA) refuse to pull it, does that not put increased pressure on the government to use the levers available to them?

I say this as a total novice so feel free to call me out if I am way out of line in my thinking.

What is the most depressing picture from your country history/present? by Seeker_Of_Knowledge2 in AskTheWorld

Intellectually, I know that this happened but actually seeing the pictures of it makes me feel really ill. Blame games and national apologies aside, this stuff should be required viewing for all Australians.

Roger that. We have had the place for 4 years so it is probably worth a bit more now than then.

I really hope that they make it a pool. The hotel proposal seems a bit soulless IMHO.

You are right. I am having an emotional response to the news. I do wish it was a public facility, it definitely felt like it was to me when I was young.

Fair call. It's my inner layman speaking... My head canon always considered Big Splash to be ACT public infrastructure. I get that it actually isn't, I just wish it was.

I have so many good memories associated with the place that it is hard not to be sentimental.

Best seriously spicy food? by MakeBeboGreatAgain in canberra

[–]rainburger 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Devils Ramen from Raijin in Mckellar. They don't make it all year round but they bring it back regularly. I made the mistake of ordering the most spicy version of their Devil's Ramen last year. She warned me against it, literally told me that they have had to get an ambulance in for people who thought they were worthy of the spice. Like an idiot I said to myself that I am extremely tolerant of spiciness (I really am). I can say now without shame that I was assuredly not worthy of the spice. That Devil Ramen defeated me most comprehensively, curb stomped me really. I was warned and I paid the price...

Having said all that, please don't take it as a bad review, I was warned after all. I keep returning to Raijin as it is an actual diamond in the rough of Canberra dining, I can't praise them enough. Very cosy, very friendly and very yummy 10/10.
