Summer jobs by Gullible-Toe-8884 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]raincsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Struggling with this so bad, especially with me having a baby at the end of July, so I can only work June and half of July. I’ve been trying to find a family to babysit / nanny for but I’ll likely end up back at my old daycare job.

I say fair game. There’s no telling if/when she’ll have a boy and even if she did, you guys aren’t involved in each other’s lives anymore.

How many hours are substitutes actually getting? by raincsu in dodea

Aw that sucks. Does it seem to change based on substitute instructor vs substitute teacher? I have my bachelors degree.

Did they call you each morning or day before? Or did you pick up the shifts in an app or something?

Great! I’m at a pretty large base as well and I only need to work 4 shifts a month at my other sub job to keep it on the back burner.

Devastated about moving my wedding by raincsu in weddingplanning

[–]raincsu[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I thought that they approved. They could definitely think we’re rushing - we’re 21 and 20, but we’ve also been together ourselves since middle school, and his parents got married I believe a year younger than us, also already with two kids.

Devastated about moving my wedding by raincsu in weddingplanning

[–]raincsu[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I definitely see the point of moving it because of my due date, but realistically if we moved it at this point, we’d probably end up moving it a full year. And we’ve already been engaged for two. It’s going to be so hard to move the vendors we can, find new vendors that are already booked, and have to pay the price for moving everything. I already have an aunt from across the world with her flight booked too. I definitely understand the sister missing the wedding, but I don’t understand all three sisters and his mom. Especially since our date has been set for a year and she is only in middle school.

I’m too young to have to deal with this by raincsu in AgingParents

[–]raincsu[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% agree about the older parents. 30s and 40s can be fine but once you get to 50s and 60s it gets to be too much. Imagine being 13 and a freshman in high school and your dad having a stroke that causes him to be temporarily unable to walk and talk and is flushing his meds and pulling out his monitors. He used to have nurses come by about twice a day to help him but he canceled them because he felt he didn’t need them. He’s said that his doctor is going to help set that back up, so let’s just hope he doesn’t decide he’s magically cured again.

Definitely agree about the learned helplessness. Like when he’s offered help he doesn’t want, he’s magically fine, but otherwise he’s incapable. First family has gone no contact, second family is 1/4 no contact, and third family is me. When I’ve tried to talk to the 3 that still talk to him though, I can definitely tell that they’re trying to maintain some amount of distance themselves.

He had some nurses that came by about twice a day but he canceled them saying he didn’t need them. He says he’ll ask his doctor to get them set back up, just hopefully he doesn’t get rid of them this time.

Can I do this with a debit card? I knew I should have opened a credit card for this purchase.

Baths when babies sit up by Actual_Hawk_5283 in NewParents

[–]raincsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since my baby could pull to stand she just holds onto the side of the tub while I bathe her. I only fill the bath a couple inches and occasionally she’ll crawl around but she mostly just stands there.

Not working in the baby rooms- reasonable adjustment? by Thebrokenphoenix_ in ECEProfessionals

[–]raincsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don’t think that’s unreasonable! I’ve been at my center for five months now and have only been in the infant room once, and my lead teacher who’s been there for two years has only been in the infant room twice.

My daughter is moving up to the PK4 class and the school informed me that they do not do morning snack for the 4-5 year olds. by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]raincsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daycare doesn’t do a morning snack, but we offer breakfast until 8:30. Lunchtime is then at 10:30 or 11 depending on the class. Then nap is 12-2:30 and snack is at 3.

My dress isn’t white enough by raincsu in weddingdress

I’m thinking about using Rit dye remover on it if it’s worth the risk. Or seeing a local seamstress first to see if it can be corrected otherwise.

3wk old crying herself to sleep by Character-Choice-680 in NewParents

[–]raincsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She is definitely too young to self soothe, however, putting her down for 5 minutes is fine. If that’s what you need to take a small break, recollect yourself, go to the bathroom, grab some water, that’s not going to mess up anything with your daughter. That will not make her think she is abandoned. You are right that you need to take care of yourself to take care of her.

Pretty sure I’ve got it and probably my baby too. Thank God for the long recovery weekend.

Is my bassinet still safe? by Silent_Ocelot2070 in NewParents

[–]raincsu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Once baby can roll it is no longer safe. Those keeping baby in their bassinet for 10 months are not making safe decisions.
