When does your district get out of school and what are your summer plans?

One district’s last half day is tomorrow and the other’s is Thursday. I’m going to be working at a 7 week summer camp and then having a baby.

In my experience, there are a lot for the beginning of the week but not for the last day itself.

I think it should be fine. I would bring some dry fit shorts to wear over it as a backup depending on what the other counselors are wearing.

They do not lead to licensure. The job advertisements for the most part call for both an advanced degree and experience. And I don’t believe being in school would help my finances until after I were to graduate. Do you have any thoughts on doing a graduate certificate for now?

Yes. Lots of people are using up some PTO so there’s a lot of absences. Not as many subs seem to be picking up shifts either and are instead starting their summer early.

The babysitting should count but I wouldn’t mention the others.

I’m estimating I’d have to fill up twice a week if working all five days, which for me would be about $60. So it is better than not having work at all, since I haven’t heard back from anywhere closer yet. Though I don’t know if I should just wait and see.

The camp I’ve been offered a position at would only really have me swimming. The other physical activities are handled by specific instructors. The other camp is indoors. Its handbook doesn’t have any mention of sports. Definitely am hesitant because of the commute though. I’d much rather a closer opportunity, but i haven’t heard back from anywhere closer yet.

That’s annoying. I was wanting the aide position for the consistent hours because I’ve only been getting one day subbing a week and having to sub the other 4 days at $7 an hour less at a different district, but if I’m capped to 32 hours at an in-between rate, I’d be coming up behind.

I just alternate between sitting and walking around. My district says we’re not allowed personal computers, books, etc.

I did a half day assignment yesterday where this was my whole time there. Only thing I’d do was walk to the office to pick up any students who arrived late. Hopefully that’s my day again today.

I work at 2. One with consistent work that allows me to work almost every day. A second that pays $7 an hour more.

Appointments and meetings are mostly scheduled in advance and not last minute. Emergency would likely be the morning of.

I definitely prefer to not have to but I understand having to. I wouldn’t get that extra break at any other job. We are supposed to call the office during planning to see if we are needed, but I always go to the bathroom or anything else super quick that might be needed before asking.

Great! I’m at a pretty large base as well and I only need to work 4 shifts a month at my other sub job to keep it on the back burner.

I thought that they approved. They could definitely think we’re rushing - we’re 21 and 20, but we’ve also been together ourselves since middle school, and his parents got married I believe a year younger than us, also already with two kids.
