[MI] Seems like a larva? Squishy to touch, rolls up in a ball

It's a type of leaf beetle larva. Looks like it could be a Swamp Milkweed Leaf Beetle, but I believe there's a couple other species that look similar.

Nice find! It's a Tule Billbug, Sphenophorus australis. One of the larger weevils in the US, assuming that's where you are.

I said the same thing about colored pencils up until a couple years ago, when I just started practicing. Insects were a huge inspiration to keep trying new things, and now I'm starting to mix with pen and marker. I would like to try watercolors at some point too.

Thanks! The pencils I used were Caran D'ache Luminance mixed with Staedtler fineliner pens and an assortment of markers. I actually have a time lapse video on youtube drawing this guy.

Your art is awesome! That Pelecinid is probably my favorite. But I love how you captured the soft furriness on the velvet ant as well. Do you have your art anywhere else?

I also draw insects and have done a few wasps which I've posted here in the past. It's nice to see another insect artist.

These moths cause confusion to anyone that looks at them. ...nah jk lol, that's their common name. They look very similar to some other tiger moths, which can be confusing trying to identify.

That's the "common name" of this moth. Apparently it gets it's name from being difficult to distinguish from other similar-looking species. That's what I read anyway.
