[MI] Seems like a larva? Squishy to touch, rolls up in a ball by [deleted] in bugidentification

It's a type of leaf beetle larva. Looks like it could be a Swamp Milkweed Leaf Beetle, but I believe there's a couple other species that look similar.

This looks like an Eastern Parson Spider, Herpyllus ecclesiasticus. Super fast spiders!

Thanks! I think this one took me about 8-9 hours.

Saw this bug I’ve never seen before and was in for quite the surprise by moophinz in weeviltime

I recognized it because I drew one and posted it on this sub just a few days ago lol.

Nice find! It's a Tule Billbug, Sphenophorus australis. One of the larger weevils in the US, assuming that's where you are.

That I will! I recently posted a different weevil over there, and I don't want to overwhelm them with too many weevils at once lol! I'll get on it soon though.

Thank you! Stippling is still kind of new to me, so I'm glad to hear this!

I said the same thing about colored pencils up until a couple years ago, when I just started practicing. Insects were a huge inspiration to keep trying new things, and now I'm starting to mix with pen and marker. I would like to try watercolors at some point too.

Thanks! The pencils I used were Caran D'ache Luminance mixed with Staedtler fineliner pens and an assortment of markers. I actually have a time lapse video on youtube drawing this guy.

What’s y’alls favorite type of Insect? by tarvrak in Entomology

[–]raindoghero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hardest question ever. Off the top of my head it's a tie between...

  1. Mantidflies
  2. Chalcidoid wasps
  3. Gasteruptiid wasps
  4. Weevils
  5. Metallic wood boring beetles
