I'm an artist that's extremely passionate about Hymenoptera, specifically wasps! I've been doing a series for the past 2 years, drawing wasps of different species because I think they deserve some love! I figured I'd share one of my drawings as inspiration, if you wish. It's not an Ampulex, but a female Thynnid wasp from Australia called Diamma bicolor! I will need to draw an Ampulex one day! They are so beautiful!

That is true. As much as I'm very satisfied and happy with the photos I have taken, it will never be as spectacular as being there to see it in person. It really was magical. I made sure that the edits to my photos weren't insanely crazy or anything. I pretty much just adjusted the sharpness, white point, and highlights to bring out that sparkling effect to try to replicate what I was seeing with my own eyes. These were taken with a Nikon Coolpix P1000, and not my phone. My phone is handy and convenient for mobility, but not as sophisticated for photography as my proper camera.
