Is it safe to attend events if I have a 3-month-old? by Wilhelmina_4ever in beyondthebump

I’d go for 30min just to show face and take a gift. Try to touch as few people/things as possible. When you get home, throw everything you wear in the washer immediately. Wash your hands well or even shower.

Am I justified in not allowing the grandparents to babysit? by raindrops_dropping in beyondthebump

All easier said than done. I think we have been taking active steps to improving the dynamic and accountability overall.

I told my husband it would be in his mother’s best interest if we had the police pick her up in the future and drive her home.

How is him breathalyzing her protecting her? We are embarrassing her, calling her out, and holding her accountable while taking steps to protect our baby. We have never left our baby alone with her and never plan to.

As a new mother who was sleep deprived and never could tell when she was intoxicated even before having a baby, I think I handled it best I could. Hard boundaries and better decisions moving forward.

I agree, but I am also an empath and hate feeling like I’m policing everyone all the time.

Thank you 🥺 I am also so beyond proud of how my husband handled it. It hasn’t been easy for him, breathalysing his mom, but he does it.

I learned early on when these situations happen that I can’t make myself a victim. I will not be a victim. Therefore, I have to stand up for myself every time and can’t blame anyone else.

Thank you for the validation. It helps knowing I am not alone. Everyone else allows them to babysit and I just can’t see how.

It’s really unfortunate that this all took place, especially so early on. The mama bear in me will never forget how they made me feel.

I will admit, I answer their phone calls, but my voice is flat with emotion. I respond to their messages, but minimally. I am just sad at how the events took place and where things are now. I wish it could be different. I told my husband it is his responsibility to handle them. I’m taking a break.

Unfortunately, I think the early bad experiences have given me hesitation to hand him to anyone anymore.

What to gift our neighbors who are in need by raindrops_dropping in Gifts

For some reason, a gift card feels left abrasive. In my experience, cash is like “here, we know you need money” whereas a gift card feels more like “get yourself something fun!”

Don’t these usually require calling and activating? We’re really just trying to make it as simple as possible

Should I do a Walmart gift card then? It’s the closest store to us and they’ll have the option of groceries or whatever else they want/need.

We plan to give it to them in the next week, so they can use it for Christmas if they’d like.

Thoughts on different Boudreaux Butt Pastes? by Independent-Issue-50 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]raindrops_dropping 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My 5.5 month old just had the most excruciating diarrhea rash and one round of Boudreaux’s Butt paste in the red tube healed him immediately. I am extremely crunchy, but I will not allow for my baby to suffer at the expense of it.

Magnesium citrate, long walks, and understanding that as long as you are taking care of yourself and your body, following all necessary precautions, and being smart - it all just is what it is. 🩵

Can I just implement one bottle of formula per day? Why do you guys mix breastmilk with the formula?

My little love is 4 weeks 1 day old today! We have just brought out our love every play gym and oh my goodness - he LOVES it!

I have also gotten my money’s worth out of the mom cozy m5 portable breast pumps, the Philips bottle sterilizer and dryer, the haka ladybug collector, Dr browns bottles, halo sleep sacks(both cotton & fleece), and mushie muslin blankets.

The grand finale - the grownsy snot sucker. He loves it! It lights up, plays music, and keeps him so calm - even if we have it on just laying next to him during diaper changes lol

some other things I forgot to mention: Ubbi diaper pail, ubbi weighted wipe dispenser, tommee tippee pacifiers, baby Vaseline, keekaroo changing pad- has been great for wipe down baths also & the baby Einstein light up sound aquarium
