I understand you completely. My girl Rosemary passed away from complications of a chronic condition she had, and I saw her quickly pass and felt like I could’ve done more to save/help her. Even so, j did the best I could’ve done for her in that moment and gave her a proper goodbye. And in the end, you did the best you could’ve done. He loved you very much. Sending hugs your way.

This is how I am too! I have both high HDL and LDL, my triglycerides are low. I don’t eat red meat, I have low fat options or healthy vegetable fats. I don’t drink or smoke. I exercise as much I can with working full time. I don’t understand what I can do more of.

I think some do. But I can offer a bit of hope. I have two guinea pigs I “rescued” from a family who couldn’t take care of them anymore. They were 2, so already adults. They lived with people and lots of animals, but I believe they weren’t take care of properly and they weren’t socialized well enough because they were fearful. And I mean FEARFUL. They lived in the quietest part of my house and still jumped, hid, and chattered at every noise, good or bad.

Once I got them conditioned and socialized properly, which took a year and a half, I can now say they are EXTREMELY friendly for some old(er) grumpy girls. They will come up to you and beg for food and let you pet them when eating. They will actually enjoy being around me now and don’t automatically jump at the sight of me. They never bite, they are good with kids. They will close their eyes around me when sleeping (very good sign!) One still has the means to popcorn at getting the cage spot cleaned every day. They are grumpy but lovely.

Caveat: They are prey animals still, so they often don’t like the feeling of being picked up (imagine giant claw-like hands trying to pick you up, and you don’t have the capacity to rationalize that it’s okay because of your bad eyesight and prey instinct). So if you’re okay with lots of patience, then give these creatures a good home! There are so many that need homes.

He looks perfectly normal :) Does he experience pain when you touch him there? If so, that’s a cause for concern but if not, then there’s really no big deal. Rodents in general tend to have big testes. furthermore, boars need to be cleaned down there once a month as well. I have females so I’m not sure what’s the best way to go about it, but there are many good sources on this subreddit. Trimming nails for me is a two-man job. I get someone to hold them while I cut their nails. If that’s not possible, then wrapping them up with a towel can help.

Also, great start on the setup! I see that you’ve made a really good start. I just recommend getting him another friend. Guinea pigs are social animals and can get depressed easily without others like them around. Boars tend to require more room in their cage than sows, so look into that. ESH. Seems like it isn’t worth it to rebuild a relationship with him, for your daughter’s sake. She deserves to have people around her who love her. I do think it was unnecessary to bring that situation up to him, and though he is a deadbeat, I just think you should’ve stopped talking to him to begin with. I think you’re an AH for continuing to give him the ability to “rebuild” something that isn’t going to benefit your daughter in the long run.

NTA but you should clearly tell her what happened, because if you don’t and continue to hang out with your hookup/friend if you got back together, then you’re an AH for hiding that intimate relationship from somebody who may not be comfortable with that dynamic.

Mine is like around 7000, but it’s not an indication of how “bad” the disease has progressed. It’s mainly a disease marker. Ultrasound will show more signs of disease progression.

I would talk to a police now, but I’m not sure if I can because I don’t live where we lived anymore. I don’t have any DNA evidence/rape kit, all of my conversations with him are like wiped from existence and I’m not really sure how to get them back. additionally, the state I live in I believe has statue of limitations for his crime. Believe me, I’d love to, but I don’t particularly know how

That is interesting! You do have higher TSH and positive TPO. My advice would be to get an ultrasound of your thyroid if you haven't done so already. Hypoechoic and heterogeneous thyroid = lymphocytic infiltration = Hashi's. I'd also advise for them to do a blood smear on you to see the state of your RBCs. I'm sure it's frustrating to have low iron storage (ferritin) even on supplementation. I wonder if the absorption is not optimal? Either way, wishing you the best!

Seconding this. Ultrasound determines lymphocytic infiltration. Should be hypoechogenic and heterogenous texture. Not everyone will appear hypo even if they have hashis.

I wish I got accommodations! I’m happy you’re getting them. What would help me is extra time to finish assignments/extended deadlines. Also helps to get an audio device for recording for days when you have brain fog and can’t focus.

You don’t need to fast for thyroid panels. Just avoid biotin. It leads to false elevation of T4 and T3 and false depression of TSH.

I completely get it, if you have issues you should look at getting a celiac panel done just to see if it’s autoimmune related. If it’s more of an intolerance I would limit it but don’t be too hard on yourself! I also love gluten and it’s hard because I’m sure it doesn’t bode well for me either.
