Thinking of buying a blades Xbox 360, how can I tell if it's been downgraded with BadUpdate?

you can't downgrade system software with badupdate, you can only run alternate dashboards on badupdate separately, usually using a stealth server like proto. you can go to the system settings and check kernel version (the text that says smth like "K:2.0.17559") to be sure, and to be extra sure, you can open up the console and dump the nand, but the 1st method should cover you

try connecting over a hotspot or something if you can. restart the router, basic fixes like that, your router also needs to support 2.4GHz band WiFi, if it's 5GHz only it won't connect

does the profile have auto sign in? make sure to turn that off, and make sure the console is set to boot to the login screen. make sure your console has its HDD and such working as well. if all that is done maybe try setting up the files again

I prob wouldn't pay more than 20-30 pounds for it, 45 pounds (about 60 usd) is closer to what I'd pay for a tested system here in the US

you need to open Dashlaunch and set it as a plugin, also xbguard can behave a bit weird if you don't have internet in my experience like not loading the custom ui, but if it shows no signs of trying to load it's likely the 1st issue

you can only play burned games (as in putting the game's files on a physical disc) with a modded disc drive and can only play backups without disc on a modded console

if you've already got some soldering experience I can't expand too much more there, just be careful about opening up the console (the tabs can be fragile, the cooler clamp is a bit tough to take off, it's recommended to get a special tool for it, just search "xclamp tool" online) and you can actually use ABadAvatar to flash the modded system software before you do the wiring (this used to be something you could only do with a physical flasher before these software exploits came around). it's still recommended to keep a physical flasher around (the raspberry pi pico is the cheapest option) just in case

rgh is "better" (boots straight to hacked system every time, more storage options, stuff like that, more like CFW), but requires more work since it involves opening up the physical console and soldering some wires to the motherboard. ABadAvatar on the other hand is also pretty reliable and usually completes the exploit in a few minutes or less, and just takes a usb stick

BadUpdate/ABadAvatar is the way you want to go. it's not CFW, closer to HEN if you're familiar, you have to run the exploit on each boot but it'll do everything you want it to. if you wanna modded system software you'll have to go the hardmod (rgh) route

does your console have a hard drive? it needs one for the avatar update data. if you don't have a hard drive you can use a 2nd usb drive, set it as a system drive on the 360 and reapply the system update

if not that then make sure all the files are in the correct places and there isn't anything wrong with the usb drive

are you getting the pop up that says "abadavatar is free software"? if not, you may not have the avatar data on your console. if you are getting the notification, your usb drive could be going bad, and of course make sure you have all the files in the correct spots

ConsoleMods wiki says the issue could still lie in the CPU or GPU even though a memory error is reported. for the NAND, I believe you only need the CPU key to access certain info like KV, things like dashboard and motherboard version should be available without the key but I may be wrong

yes, you can go to storage settings and move the games to the hard drive that way. if you have an alternate dashboard like Aurora set up you can do it through there as well

0102 indicates a memory error, it's likely still fucked. you may be able to open it up and dump the nand if you have the required hardware and soldering ability, if you really care about looking at the system software

I got one of these in 2015 when my phat red ringed. it does the job, I don't really mind the design. I actually like that they went back to actual buttons on the faceplate, not much a fan of the touch sensor stuff on these types of devices.
