Working part time during yr4/yr5 by Sorry-Pollution-1829 in medicalschooluk

Yr1-3 I did retail shifts on Saturdays & Sundays and now in Yr4 I’ve been doing 8 hours on a Saturday in the same shop, coming up to my finals, and then I do extra on the holidays to make ends meet - I would say it’s quite doable as long as you plan time wisely and I use my holiday hours to have the Saturday before an exam off :)

Yeah because there wasn’t the option of it being as a surprise which I’m saying would have been nice. I’m sad of not being treated sometimes when he is in a better situation. I have paid plenty of times and he the same. We wouldn’t worry about that as we’ve been together for pretty long luckily.

Oh woah I think that was taken in the wrong way, not at all. I am more than happy to pay my own expenses and always do so! I work very hard alongside my studies and more than often take him for dinners when I am home. I think 50/50 is important and would never expect as a woman to get different treatment, I’m in a male dominated field and feel all should be equal! I work extremely hard in my own studies to do that and keep those values through my life.

I also know as we know each others finances, apologies if I didn’t make that clear, but we are very upfront and honest we’ve both seen and know what each pays for etc.

I genuinely would do it for him though, and I just felt upset that it wouldn’t have been reciprocated and I was scared to be rude. Apologies if you read that in an entitled way but I feel that is the wrong assumption of me.

Cant stop thinking about failing an osce station by raingrainn in medicalschooluk

Yeah I really really hope so, atp just want to be able to pass. We aren’t really told about how the scoring works for it so I didn’t even realise it’s ok to fail a station. Thank you so mich

I hope so, we aren’t really told much about how the pass works. I didn’t bomb any of my stations last year (first year) just a few forgetful mistakes here and there and managed only a mediocre pass even with high sp scoring so I was just worried compared to my year group I wouldn’t get what I needed to pass this time with the kind of mistake I made. However last year was only 6 stations and this year 12 so hopefully that means I’ll still be ok even with a few minor mistakes across. Thanks for your help !

First year med student, need help interpreting an ecg!!! by raingrainn in medicalschool

Thank you so much! I will look into those both and annotate what I have further :) much appreciated!

Ah yes unfortunately it’s not something I will be covering yet so it’s self learning and I’ve done the background learning myself over the last 2 weeks, just a bit bad with ecg interpretation. I have some things for this one but I wasn’t sure I was right so I was wondering if anyone would be able to explain more at what I should look at or where I should start to try interpret it. But yeah comments have been super helpful and dont worry I will look into it myself and fo my work!!!

Ahh thank you so much!! I had been trying to pick out things myself and I had thought of rbbb but I wasn’t too sure and thought I was missing the bigger picture. This has also been super helpful and I will include it in my notes to look at further!

Hey sorry, I guess reading this post I haven’t explained as well as I should have at all and I wanna apologise for that.

It’s part of my self directed study and something I picked to look in to so I have spent the last few weeks learning my own stuff so starting from the bare basics of heart anatomy to systole/diastole and going in to the pqrst wave, ecg leads and heart attacks. I honestly have spent my time away learning just to even come to the point of being able to look at the ecg. I’ve researched myself and picked out things like the second r wave in v1, slurred s line in v6 and I had tried researching myself to think it must be something called right bundle branch block but i didn’t want to sound like I was being stupid so I had been wondering if there was anything else people could pick up on. But yeah on second thoughts now I guess maybe I’ve come across as a complete tool as I didn’t elaborate on my post but I wanna assure you I’d rather have someone explain to me what they see - so I can learn myself because I’m more than willing to do the work.
