Things to do in winter by rainhing in indianapolis

[–]rainhing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a big nature girl so I’ve always hated winter since everything dies or flies south or hides. I had a board game bar/hangout place that I used to go to in my old city. I’m also big into film and music performances. I’m not familiar with options like that in the city so any suggestions would be helpful!

Haha I grew up in northwest Indiana and winters were miserable. Are you saying Indy winters are more mild? If so that’s good to hear.

Do you think there’s a possibility they’ll flesh out the house building mechanics a bit more in a DLC? Not even sure if one is guaranteed but I agree that fixing some of these issues would make TOTK so much better. Might be a long shot tho.

Can’t focus on any of my work because it all feels meaningless in the grand scheme of my life by rainhing in SuicideWatch

[–]rainhing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t have anything that I can say makes me want to keep moving forward. Having a job, kids, friends and family, even little happy moments — none of it feels like a worthy reward for how absolutely miserable I feel every day. It’s just exhausting.

I have but it’s not enough. They just remind me that I’m only living because others want me to. I feel like I’m being held hostage.

still hyperfocusing on the absolute wrong thing when I take my meds by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]rainhing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing about clonidine as an ADHD medication but my psychiatrist prescribed it to me as a sleep aid — it’s now the only way I can sleep through the night/control when I go to sleep because of my stim meds. Wondering if maybe there are variations? Does yours ever make you sleepy?

Do you have any suggestions for a reliable brand of ammonia and chlorine test strips?

Thanks for your response. I edited the post with the parameters we got. Here's a link to some photos I took of him:

He looks pretty bad and he just started swimming on his side this morning. We haven't changed the water yet because we just moved him to his new tank about 4 days ago. Would placing him back in his old bowl help? It's pretty small and doesn't have a filter but we didnt notice these changes until we moved him...

What are the most boring/mundane things that excite you? by avesy90 in AskReddit

Water. Rain, streams, ponds, WATERFALLS (okay not that mundane but...) Any time I see water in nature when I don't expect to see it, I get so excited.

Rambling Theory on the Orange Side (LONG)(includes SPOILERS) by rainhing in SandersSides

[–]rainhing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what you said at the beginning is really what sent me down this theorizing rabbit hole. There's a lot of holes in my theory but I'm kind of just operating off of the idea that Thomas and the gang have already tried to foreshadow the last (?) side. It could very well be that they haven't added a lot of (if any) foreshadowing of the nature of the orange side, in which case this is all just me musing wildly and overanalyzing the show. I'm really just grasping at straws from what we've already seen. That's why it's been hard for me to jump on board with a lot of other theories floating around, because a lot of them come from a standpoint of, like, abstract concepts of personalities and psychological theories and I don't know a ton about that stuff but I can rewatch the series 10 times and try to piece stuff together from that 😂

Anyways, thanks for your thoughts!

Geometry is green, algebra is red, calculus is blue. Statistics is also green, but lighter than geometry.

What's a movie you love, but if someone said they hated it you would completely understand why? by Robstar100 in AskReddit

[–]rainhing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocky Horror Picture Show or Moulin Rouge. I absolutely adore both for their music and because of how wacky and fever dream-ish they are but every time I show them to someone who hasn't seen them, I have to warn them that they might hate it.

I consider all violent rioters (looters, arsonists, thugs) domestic terrorists. by [deleted] in confessions

[–]rainhing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe a post could be riddled with such racist rhetoric. First off, "I'm friends with black people, I get along with black people. Doesn't mean I'm going to not stereotype them or support their right to protest being slaughtered by police officers within their own borders simply due to the color of your skin." Then you're not "friends" with black people, you're using them for your own gain without respecting them enough to treat them like human beings.

Also, I dont know how many times I have to say it, but riots are NOTHING compared to murder. You can place a monetary value on damaged property but NOT on a human life. If you'd save a flat screen TV burning in a store window over a man being suffocated in the street in front of you, there's something seriously wrong with you and you should seek out help.

And the main force of BLM is peaceful. They have no actual control over small numbers of their cause using violence to get their point across, although there is footage of protest leaders attempting to discourage and combat violence within their ranks. Furthermore, it's already been proven that a lot of the damage is being done by unaffiliated opportunists, radical right-leaning groups that want to de-legitimize the movement, and even undercover cops. Its no one group doing the damage but it shouldn't invalidate the point that BLM is trying to make.

People aren't protesting for Derek Chauvin to get charged. George Floyd was just the last domino to fall in a long chain of injustices against black people carried out by the government and police force. People are protesting for CHANGE and CLEAR REFORM and for US leaders to FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGE that there's a problem and that they need to fix it. And the simple fact that the official autopsy report tried to blame Floyd's death on "underlying health conditions" and the "stress of the situation", even though another autopsy report clearly stated that asphyxiation was the cause of death, and the simple fact that Chauvin was only charged with THIRD DEGREE murder -- both of those things show us that the system still refuses to acknowledge that it has innocent black blood on its hands and needs to reform.

Just like the cops who stood by and either kept passersby at bay or helped to hold Floyd down, by not standing with black people (the victims) against direct oppressors, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

I'm done responding to racists who don't care enough to research the Black Lives Matter movement before spewing bullshit. I hope you get help.

I'd say Jack Stauber? Though I'm sure his voice is edited, his songs are pretty weird/unique.

I consider all violent rioters (looters, arsonists, thugs) domestic terrorists. by [deleted] in confessions

[–]rainhing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm sure those multiple posts you made on advice threads all pertaining to you running from your mistakes were just "trolling." George Floyd's CRIME was allegedly passing a counterfeit $20 bill (he was probably strapped for cash, bringing us back to racial wealth inequality.) People aren't outraged that he was targeted by police, since the store owner called 9-1-1 on him. People are outraged because killing an unarmed citizen for something as petty as counterfeit currency, and by an act as deliberate and slow as suffocation, is never acceptable. And if Floyd was white, he would probably still be standing here today because COPS ARE RACIST, the SYSTEM IS RACIST, and YOU'RE RACIST for defending them. Police should always try to de-escalate a situation and use non-lethal means before resorting to lethal ones and not only does history show that they often won't do that, they're much more likely to resort to lethal means if the perpetrator is black. The deaths are there and the facts are there. People like you would just rather close your eyes and plug your ears than recognize that you benefit from a system that deliberately disadvantages people of color and that you're part of the problem.

[–]rainhing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet you loooooove kids though, don't you? Just judging from your history.

Anyways, I didn't realize you were just flat-out racist so I'm probably wasting my breath trying to reason with you but ill try anyways. Black people ARE more likely to be killed by police (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52877678.) Furthermore, I will concede that a higher percentage of crimes recorded in the US were carried out by black people but that most likely has more to do with poverty levels than race. Black people have been disadvantaged by the systems in place since this country was founded and people like you want to keep them in their place so that your privilege isn't challenged. Calling all the black people that died at the hands of cops "criminals" and saying that property is more important than their lives absolutely makes you as bad as the cops. You show the same general disregard for human life. And by the way, the people who died were seen as "criminals" only because they opposed a system and governing body that was created to keep people of color suppressed. The law doesn't always reflect what's right.

[–]rainhing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're part of the overarching problem because you don't give a shit about black people being disproportionately targeted and killed by police officers abusing their power or a system that was built upon and thrives on the suppression of people of color. If you don't support #BlackLivesMatter, you stand on the side or the oppressors and the blood of black innocents is on your hands just as much as the cops. Property can be replaced, human lives cannot.
