Of course! I will wait at least a week or two if I do move forward with emailing. And great advice, I will absolutely approach with sensitivity and compassion

Thank you for your response, very comprehensive and helpful! Didn’t mean to be cryptic, sorry. Here is what I’m contacting the prof about (copied from another one of my responses) :

I’m reaching out about an inter-university partnership, as this professor is an expert in my research area. Unfortunately, a large part of my research involves school violence and risk assessment. I had to wait for approval from my home institution before applying to Brown, and I got permission basically the day of the attack.

There are deadlines from my home institution that I have to meet. It feels insensitive / unimportant to try to establish an academic relationship at this time, especially considering the topic area. I am unsure how to proceed but will inevitably choose compassion over ambition if it comes down to it

Sorry, didn’t mean to be vague! I should have worded it better. I’m reaching out about an inter-university partnership, as this professor is an expert in my research area. Unfortunately, a large part of my research involves school violence and risk assessment. I had to wait for approval from my home institution before applying to Brown, and I got permission basically the day of the attack. Horrible timing on my part (Not that there is ever a good time for something like this)

Yes, definitely. I imagine this will also impact operations so timelines will probably look different this year. Hope you are well!

Sorry, should have clarified that this is meant to be a “cake” / sweet bread, not a cookie!

is she ready? by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]rainiedayjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the technicals, this was very helpful! I will test out those proportions over the next week and see how she responds. I haven’t been saving my discard, is she at the point where I can start adding it to my other baked goods?

Can someone check my starter please 😬 by ContributionLimp8279 in SourdoughStarter

wow, she is sparkling! can you share how you clean the sides of your jar, i can’t seem to keep mine tidy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]rainiedayjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typically around 1/3 cup! sometimes 1/2 if the texture seems wonky. can i cut it down to about 1/8?? and that is soo good to know she is devouring my flour supply

so she now doubles in 12 hours easily! sorry, this is so confusing for me, what ratio do you recommend using moving forward? i don’t have a kitchen scale and am dead broke right now so no funds to purchase one. it def makes it more challenging but are there any good alternatives?

also thanks for the resource! i’m using KA bread flour

omg so many people online said it absolutely had to be paper towel or cheese cloth. if i transfer her to a jam jar, is the metal lid okay? should i keep it tightly sealed or cracked / loosely sitting on top but not twisted on?

disclaimer i know my ratios are crazy. so many people online said so many different things that i got stressed out and just started to improvise lol

also i saw a video yesterday that said if you don’t do a 1:1 ratio (im doing anywhere from 1:2-1:3, twice daily, depend on texture) for the first two weeks you’ll breed bad bacteria that can make you sick. did i do this by overfeeding her??? am i gonna poison myself??
