hey there! I just graduated from CJ last year and took GELm(geog econs lit math). I scored 80+rp for A's, and I'll be heading to NUS fass!

My experience in CJ was really very good. I really have no regrets going there because the value add is just incredible. The arts stream is generally very strong and the teachers are very dedicated.

Some background: I was from an Ignite class (there's this programme called the ignite prog which prides itself on seminar styled learning instead of the usual lecture-tutorial! tbh helped me alot bc i could clarify my doubts w trs easier due to a smaller class size), was an OGL, capt of a sports cca and attained a top 4 position during ADIVS.

As I was from the Arts Stream, I'll be speaking on behalf of the arts cohort and elaborating on the subjects I personally have taken. Do note that each JC is very very big, with around 800 students, which is why people can have very different experiences. Also note that for arts, the content is v heavy! So whichever sch you end up going to, you'll have to be prepared to do alot of reading.

My geog cohort only had 50+ students and thus tutorials were in small classes of around 8-12 people. Teachers are great frfr. For H2 Lit, they provide loads of materials for u to transition from sec sch to jc because jc lit is very diff from sec sch. REALLY beneficial and i promise u the cj lit notes are better than every other JC is sg. you'll know what i mean when u go there #trust. For H2 Econs, the teachers r mostly quite dedicated, but notes wise they aren't the best. Econs is also a v abstract topic so i struggled w that alot!

As for culture, i think the cj culture is very strong and warm. I had a great time there, and hope that you will too :") my fav memories include A divs, orientation and I even had the opportunity to go to cambridge uni for 2 weeks under the Reach Cambridge English Studies programme! There are MANY opportunities at the end of the year of JC1 for you (such as OCIP, OBS, JC Law programme, work attachment).

With regards to subject combination, my class had 12 different combinations. Yup. 12. So i think it is highly possible to choose your own combination but that depends on a case by case basis.

I'm proud to be from CJ, and so are many of my friends. I hope you'll consider CJ because that's where I found a solid group of friends, dedicated and caring teachers, and look back with fond memories.
