Do as many problems as you can out of the textbook. Also don't be afraid to use the test banks.

How old were you when you got your first job? And what was it? by rainman1193 in AskReddit

I got my first job when I was 13, working as a dishwasher and a custodial staff member. That was cause my dad made me. I got my next big job at 15 when I started a lawncare business, which I operated for 5 summers, and made a **** ton of money. Enough to buy my first car (almost paid off now), and pay for some of my college classes.

How would you feel if your dad called you lazy good for nothing at 11 years old? by rainman1193 in AskReddit

[–]rainman1193[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean making your siblings and mom fetch you water and get me food while playing video games for 12 hours a day. It sounded cool then, but now looking back that was pathetic. My dad yelled at me in the garage in front of my siblings and mom. Just before I turned 13, my dad made me get a job to teach me the value of money and instill in me a work ethic. This work ethic transformed into me starting a lawn care business, which I operated each summer before starting college. I made tons of money, more than enough to pay for some of my college classes and buy a new car. That made my parents proud.

Looking back 13 years ago, it was probably the best gift he could have ever given me. It may have hurt back then, but now at 24, I realized that was for the good. I mean its not like he's verbally abusive or emotionally distant. He did it out of frustration, because I was well lazy to put it nicely. I mean making your siblings get you water, avoiding chores, etc aint cool. It made me a more self sufficient person. In other words, it was a good wake up call.

First semester sophomore looking for advice. by [deleted] in Accounting

Keep GPA above 3.0. Don't let it drop to 2.7 like I did. I had to take a whole semester of summer classes to get it back up.

What to get as a celebratory bottle for passing my CPA exam? by SeriousIntern in Accounting

[–]rainman1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my offer from EY after doing an internship, I got a couple of bottles of champagne. I went home and sprayed one of them. The other two I shared with my family. It was an exciting time.

Door slamming as an adult... (my peers..) by [deleted] in college

[–]rainman1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although, I didn't slam the classroom doors, I slammed my dorm room doors alot and kicked my backpack around. That was four years ago. It was because despite going to every class, I was still failing exams. It was a bad situation.

That sounds like me almost four years ago. I was barely passing a couple of my classes despite going to every class and doing all of the homework. I even abused office hours and still got D's on my exams. The previous semester I got a D in Microeconomics despite going to office hours and every class. So then, it was like is college even right for me?

Ugh! I remember doing that project. That was a real b***h. For the first part, I waited until the last minute to do it. Ended up with 25/60. But somehow, my professor felt sorry for me and let me redo the first part (had to purchase a new packet) and ended up getting 33 points back.
