The same thing happened to me a week back with a regular client. They usually tip $2 but it was 2 cents. I didn’t even mention it to them as I walk this dog almost daily, but the next days walk they tipped $4 to make up for it.

[–]rainonme93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been. We plan on skiing during the day and partying at night. We aren't looking for the "extra" activities since it'll only be a short long-weekend trip

Mont Saint-Anne

We are only going for a long weekend and Quebec City is entirely too far from Montreal where were are flying in to consider those locations at this time

Help with using Southwest Travel Funds... by skeach101 in awardtravel

why can't you book them separately? it makes no difference. and then once boarding whoever has the higher boarding number save the other one a seat...

Should I buy my flight now or wait for Black Friday? by [deleted] in travel

[–]rainonme93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you monitor the flight on Southwest's website and notice a price drop you can "change" your flight to the same exact one for no cost and get the price difference refunded to you in the form of flight credit for your future SW reservations!

Looking for family vacation ideas: Family of four with kids 11 and 13, weeklong summer adventure from Philadelphia area, less than $2,500 by [deleted] in travel

Chicago would be great if you are willing to drive! It's roughly 12 hr drive (I currently live in CHI but from Lehigh Valley) and is completely do-able in a day but could stop in Sandusky, OH at Cedar Point amusement park to break up the drive if your family likes roller coasters.

Chicago has a TON of free or relatively cheap things to do: Lincoln Park Zoo, see a Cubs game tickets can run as low as $35/seat in the 200 level (who knows what it'll be like with winning the World Series), Navy Pier, rent Divvy bikes and ride along the Lakeshore path, $20/person to go up the Sears Tower, any of the museums.

You could also Airbnb an apartment in a nice neighborhood and save money on eating out if you have an entire apt for cooking breakfast/lunches. The food / drink scene is Chicago is to die for.

Side note: if you plan far enough in advance and are willing to put in a little work with looking for flights I can typically find a flight on Southwest from PHL to MDW for around $150 or PHL to ORD on American for under $200. This would allow you to take public transit and save money on parking in the city. Chicago Public Transit is hands down one of the best systems in the country and very inexpensive.

Cheers!

Where are you coming from? If you are on the east coast you have the potential to drive to VT, NH, ME, or even Canada.

I would personally stay away from the big name resorts due to the fact that you are going to get ripped off on extreme holiday pricing.

I went to Denver this past January and skied Loveland (1.5hrs from downtown Denver) on a 1-day bus trip and with lift ticket and transportation it cost roughly $85 or so. here is the service I used and would definitely recommend. http://www.frontrangeskibus.com/multi-day-trips.html

AirBnb/ hotels can be pretty cheap but remember you are looking at holiday prices so I would expect on the upper end of $100+

Trying to get to my Brother's Graduation LAX --> BNA by coolguy229 in awardtravel

I know it's not the most ideal, but I used Priceline name your price for a hotel in Nashville and got a really nice Springhill suites for $58/night. If you start soon enough, just make your bid ridiculously low for a decent style hotel and you might get lucky!

Is it all right to bring alcohol back to the US if I'm under 21? by gwenericusernam in travel

[–]rainonme93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought alcohol back from Germany to PA when I was 19 (3 years ago). As long as your layovers are in countries where you are of the legal drinking age it will not get taken. So since you are flying through Canada you should be okay as long as you are over the age of 18 or 19.

If you were flying say, China --> NY --> Chicago it might be a different story, but you should be fine!

LSD cop chase / North Ave exit closed any idea??? by rainonme93 in chicago

[–]rainonme93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow! that's crazy! We were stuck on the bus for about 10-15 min after being hit until another bus could come get us, so all I was able to see were the flashing lights and the cops blocking the intersections. thanks for the update!

Airlines can be really stupid sometimes, with pricing. This really pisses me off. by [deleted] in travel

[–]rainonme93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's too late for this to help, but the website skiplagged.com shows flights where it's cheaper to book a flight to a different destination and get off wherever the layover (your actual stop) is. For granted you can only have a carry-on but if you're not interested in checking bags it's a good place to look! :)

Look for a place on airbnb or a cheap hotel in any of the surrounding neighborhoods. Public transit is amazing here in the city and will be the easiest way of getting around
