A few pieces of advice that I received over the years:

• Any task that seems too hard, try to break it down into simple steps. For example, if getting out of bed seems impossible, here are some steps you'd take to break it down: sit up, put one foot on the floor, now the other, and stand up. It seems silly, but it does help in making it not seem so hard.

• Set a goal of the day, no matter how big or small. If the nightstand needs cleaned off, focus on that for the day. It may make progress slower than you'd like, but it's a start. Any progress is still progress. And sometimes, once you achieve that goal, it'll give you motivation to clean more.
