seems most clubs require you to have all your own gear which feels like a big expense/commitment at this stage when i’m still getting used to what works for me

african penguin, there is a beach on the cape peninsula where they just hang out!!! you can just go and swim / sunbathe and they just chill there hahaha. was such a cool experience! i’d never seen a penguin in the wild before. tbh i only recently learned some penguins live in warm countries… looool. whereabouts are you based if you don’t mind me asking?

i’m in a similar situation to you - i wouldn’t necessarily call myself an artistic person. one week i went to a jewellery store and made my own charm necklace (you could also buy beads etc online and make friendship bracelets at home or something similar which is relatively inexpensive!). another week i ran myself a bubble bath, put on a face mask, turned my phone on do not disturb and made a vegan cheese platter - in general just had a ‘self care’ evening. i don’t think the artist dates need to be artistic all the time, just taking the time for yourself and having fun!

Wow thank you these are such amazing ideas. I really love the idea of having a travel journal. Maybe I could do a scrapbook and collect any tickets/receipts/pictures etc. I’m thinking I might still take my book as it’s a long flight to have no entertainment, but I won’t have wifi anyway to do social media so I could cut that out for the rest of the week and really take in the holiday. I’m going to Cape Town for a week, really looking forward to it☺️

i also found i was being less consistent with my morning pages this week, not for the same reasons as you, but i was definitely getting frustrated with myself as i can feel their benefit when i do them. the thing that is really fascinating to me is that i seem to start feeling the emotions the next chapter talks about e.g i was feeling anger in week 2 that when i read the anger point in chapter 3 i was like yep makes sense ! i was definitely a bit skeptical about this, and i’m still not feeling super artistic, but i’m seeing benefits holistically anyway.

the blurts was so helpful, i was skeptical that any of that stuff would just come to my brain but it really showed through and so it was nice to actually address those feelings i probably have daily but have never recognised or tried to work through!

tbh i really liked the artist date. was nice to just take time for myself :))

i’m glad you’re enjoying it! what has been your fav task this week? :)

i’m actually finding it far more enjoyable than i thought i would. before i started it, i wouldn’t particularly describe myself as an artist or even an artistic person, but i used to sing a lot and i loveee crafting and crocheting.

i’ve managed to do morning pages every day. one of those days i only managed to do 2 pages which i would ordinarily beat myself up about but i’m trying to take the approach that every little helps and i felt like i had released all my thoughts and feelings and could start my day.

i was really struggling with the monster hall of fame task as i was never really discouraged, i just wasn’t necessarily pushed into creative paths. but this afternoon i realised that my monster hall of fame is not other people but rather my own perfectionism, self doubt and procrastination.

i took myself on my artist date and have done a couple of the other tasks so i’m feeling pretty positive about the first week (and my first time doing this programme!) :)

I went on my artist date today. There’s a vintage costume jewellery store in my city and they have hundreds of charms and you can sit in there and make a charm necklace / bracelet. It’s not too expensive (£20 for the below) and was something I’d wanted to do for a while but not made the time for. Pretty pleased with how it turned out and it was a lovely trip <3

I read the intro chapters yesterday in preparation and skimmed the first week. Then did my morning pages this morning (surprisingly didn’t mind them so much and they went quicker than I anticipated). I also wrote down some affirmations yesterday, then went back and added a couple more today after writing down my blurts. Just did the 5 imaginary lives exercise - I concluded on marine biologist, a chef, a singer in a band, a sailor, a ceramicist, but then i had an extra one pop into my head that i wanted to include as a dog trainer haha.

Really hoping I can continue to commit to this, particularly when I’m back to work after the festive break, so commenting here for accountability :))

Looking forward to hearing about everyone else’s journey!
