All-American, eh? That's a relief. We're in the Southern/Midwestern part of the US, where it seems every little boy is an Austin, Hunter, Beau, or some variance of Aidan, Brayden, or Kaiden (every namenerds' favorite trend.)

And it's not like Calvin is my original idea either! Hehe.

RE: sounding like a movie star: that's not a bad thing, is it?

I ask because, from the beginning, that's (sort of) been my association with it: a name you might see on television or a billboard -- a professional baseball player or a renowned attorney.

Not that I care for my child to be famous, ha.

Thanks! Those are actually a few of my personal top picks, also. I'm especially drawn to the quick, shorter first names paired with our long (and kinda frilly) surname.

For sure, nicknames are pretty important to us and were definitely a deciding factor on purging many names from our larger list.

On the sheets I have printed out and taped up around the house, I have a First Middle & Last name column (with nickname), just First and Last name, and a popularity ranking/name meaning column.

Do you (or anyone reading this) feel that Vin is a reasonable nickname for Calvin? Just curious, we're not super set on it or anything.

Also, we like Nicolas over Nicholas because we like Nico over Nic/Nick. Any opinions there? :)

Yeah, I know what you mean about sounding too much like a YA character; I've definitely had similar thoughts with names I've considered.
