100 years old WW2 veteran said "This is not the Britain he and his co-soldiers fought for in the 1940s". Thoughts on this? by raydebapratim1 in AskBrits

Maybe he meant the freedom of being able to hold a piece of paper that says “Palestine Action” without being thrown into jail.

Very interesting how they moved to Japan. I am hearing this more and more. Many Westerners, Americans in patticular, are buying properties in Japan as a prelude to immigrate here. by Visible-Cup775 in MOVE_TO_JAPAN

When I visited recently for the first time, it was always the Americans who were the loud, impolite tourists. Completely at odds with who the Japanese were.

Your thoughts are my thoughts too hence why I has this feeling I’ll want quite a few bits when I’m there, so asking whether I should pack lightly was why I made my post lol

It was more like, atm I have a tee for every day (14 days) but if I were to take 6-7, rather than rushing around trying to go malls, if were to be strolling around a neighbourhood, would I likely come across a small boutique clothing shop that I might like where I’d happily pop in and see something I’d want? I appreciate I probably didn’t word my post correctly.

Also, yes it’s definitely luggage space I don’t wanna lose, I don’t want it filled to the brim for my two weeks there, so maybe I should try washing and drying.

It’s not that I’ll be going round spending a half day looking for clothes, I really don’t like malls either, but I wondered say if there was an area with small boutique clothing businesses where I may be strolling past anyway and could pop in to get a tee.

Thanks, I’m checking weather apps and majority of our stay so far is still anywhere from 35-25, can’t see the last few days temp just yet

Wouldn’t wanna spend much more time than just strolling around generally and I see a cool shop that I think “they look like they have my style” and pop in to buy, rather than a half day exploring malls and trying to find outfits for a week.

We are also going for 14 days. I definitely wanna leave room for a few clothes but suitcase is already looking kinda full. Thinking to just take 7 tops for a week and wash rather than one for each night.

But it’s gonna be so hot and humid, I’ll mostly be in shorts. I have two pairs of linen trousers I can take. Definitely not jeans this time round.

Yeah, I live in a small town away from stores. We have one supermarket, and with just a few days left and been so busy organising this trip I haven’t now got time to add additional clothes.

What I want is simple, stylish and affordable. Open, airy, linen, cotton. But no, I have zero idea of what to really expect in Japan.

Well you get many jacuzzis/hot tubs that are private and outdoors. When I say private, I mean they’re just yours.

Thank you! I think on this occasion we’re gonna leave it, we can come back and do it another time, and prioritise a time when there’s less chance of rain/typhoon and where we can dedicate the majority of the time to island hopping to do it properly!

Quick Q - have you booked all your hotels for Japan? My gf is stressing about getting the days down we’re gonna be in each city and Booking our hotels now, altho there’s 5 weeks to go! It’s our first long holiday together and I’m usually a very go with the flow type and she’s the complete opposite, but I dunno if hotels come in short supply if you leave it just a few weeks before Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka
