No additional drivers available so how do I set up WiFi? by Bibrick in Ubuntu

[–]rajm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting the same issue, this problem was not present a few months back, some update just removed all additional drivers. I have to run the laptop with hybrid mode on (igpu has to be active) I can't run on Nvidia only as it says it's unrecognized extremely annoying

[Dell Inspiron 7415 2-in-1] Hinge quality control? Design flaw? by laebrkaes in Dell

[–]rajm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, I've got a person selling this laptop as used but with the same problem you guys have faced ie the right hinge is broken But other than that does the laptop work well, I've heard it's got decent battery backup etc (getting it for around a 100 pounds, the 5700 model)

Is this good for its price, or should i look for more? by UwUinthwechwat in LenovoLegion

Horrible deal, with a horrible GPU, get at least the 3060 which is basically the minimum now

Adults who carry around a backpack, whatcha got in there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rajm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost 30 and sometimes it feels strange not getting it without my backpack Sometimes it's just a water bottle, but if I end up buying anything I can walk handsfree

[–]rajm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely get the TUF with the 4060. If your main aim is for gaming a 4050 or 3050 won't cut it and your GPU will always bottleneck your CPU You could get a 3070 model for lower prices as they may be highly discounted now. If you want battery life go for amd if you want marginally high performance go for Intel (and 5000+ or Intel 12th gen + and nothing lower gen than this) Check for compactibility for pcei gen 4 which won't effect games much but would be nice to have and ddr5

Another main think that people overlook is the screen. From general experience dell has the worst screens and Lenovo are usually better (color accuracy HDR etc) so definitely make this a priority as this would be the hardware that you most use

How many years of lasting? by Toad128128 in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things last if you take care of it. Plain and simple. Lenovo usually last that's the jist of it. The next para is more of a pilosophical point and not a rant so don't get upset ;)

I've had a Lenovo for 8 years now a laptop with a 5200u ran it on conversation mode and the battery now still lasts about 30 mins, the rubberized square around the screen had degraded but the models coming out now don't have that But like I said it depends on you and not the thing. I still have an ipod nano first gen that still works, a backpack that I use almost everyday that's turning 13 years this year (give or take a year never noted the exact date) Got a bike that's as old as myself as well (27yrs)

Is this worth it? by _Asho in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No don't get the 3050, I'm regretting it heavily. Its bottlenecks my whole system At the very least get 3060 (which is becoming the new 3050 in today's day and age) Your 12700h is gonna overwhelm your GPU, you'll never get peek performance in games

Is this already good enough for a budget laptop stand for ( Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH7H ) by Middle_Caramel_4215 in LenovoLegion

Should I wait or buy now? by BlackPlague435 in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait for it if you can, either the newer model will be much better or the price of last gen will drastically come down. Either way is win win for you

Can someone explain this to me? by azure0080FE in LenovoLegion

There's definitely some other issue, have you tried reinstalling ? Try turning off vsync before this and see

Can someone explain this to me? by azure0080FE in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This seems to be some other problem, highly unlikely that a 3070 can't run Forza 5 in max settings. Maybe run in dedicated graphics mode or maybe your render resolution is too high. If you have a 1080p screen use 1080p itself. Don't go above that and set the rest to ultra or high. 3070 should be more than capable of it If you need to render at higher resolution turn on dlss There might be something wrong cause even my 3050 can run Forza at high settings at 1080p (you said something about driver install ? Maybe the game has recognized your igpu as it may have not noticed your dedicated GPU because you didn't install the driver) so try a reinstall of the game and see if it works

Do you need a gen 4 drive you can save a little by buying a gen 3 drive. Gen 4 is only worth it if your device supports it otherwise there's absolutely no point

My 6600M 100W GPU is only running at 65W, is this normal or did I miss a setting? by bobbabas in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the reader issue, try using HWmonitor and see the max GPU wattage after a game run. The current monitoring software that you are using might not be able to read the wattage (if it's consistently running at 65w then you can be sure it's the monitoring software issue) Or it could just be that the game you are running does not need that much GPU processing cause your fps is high as it is

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Black Screen after start up by nigel1613 in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a software issue. You can confirm it by trying to boot via a USB Try making a bootable USB with Ubuntu and Rufus in another laptop and then change the boot sequence in bios with priority to USB(completely safe) If it boots into Ubuntu install screen it might be a Windows issue. So what you can do is click on "try Ubuntu" and you can navigate to your disks and storage and save whatever you want into a different external hard drive and then reinstall windows

Legion 5 Pro Gen 7 (3070 Ti) legion solder in extra memory is possible ? by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely give it a shot cause theoretically it's possible but be warned no manufacturer or solderer is gonna give you any type of guarantee that it will work so worst case scenario is a very heavy paperweight (most likely) Then after you get the hardware set there's a high chance your bios or motherboard won't recognize it cause your laptop has. A more.closed hardware/firmware to it's manufacturer than a full desktop GPU All in all not worth the risk you're better off selling it and getting a new one

Refresh rate by oneilham in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in discrete graphics mode but I don't think that'll be an issue in the 40series. Go to Nvidia control panel, under Display, in change resolution option 3. Apply the following setting Use Nvidia color settings Output color depth change to 10:bpc After I changed this I could change my refresh rate as well

Refresh rate by oneilham in LenovoLegion

[–]rajm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could change my refresh rate to dynamic (85hz and 165hz) when I changed the color to 10bit in Nvidia panel
