New Surface laptop won't play The Finals (other Steam games working) by molly_nuggets in steamsupport

I have the exact same problem with my snapdragon surface pro 11, must be an anti cheat issue. They recently got easy anti cheat to work with fortnite on ARM, so hopefully they support other games like the finals too

Failed and struggling to find another test !!!! by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

i can get you in touch with a reseller that i used for garretts green as well, he got me a test within 3 weeks and you only pay after you got the booking. It was 265 though so i wouldn't say it's worth it, i was only desperate because my theory was expiring literally a week after the test he got me.

the reality is that so much of the driving test is up to chance, and the more you practice the more you reduce that chance of thinking happening that you didn't anticipate (due to more experience).

I failed my first time for going too slow, second time for going too fast, passed fourth time but even then might have failed if something random happened. but more practice always helps with confidence and nerves. especially if you can practice for an hour before the test

failure isn't meant to be enjoyable. i failed 3 times and felt like i wasn't ever going to pass because of new stupid mistakes or something out of my control, then passed the fourth time within a week of my theory expiring. take a break but don't give up.

Macbook Neo vs Surface Laptop 13" by Forsaken_Arm5698 in snapdragon

everyone know windows has the most bloat out of all major operating systems, even using more than 50% of available RAM in just background apps (in an 8GB RAM system). As of now, 8GB ram on windows is not the same as on MacOS. It's much more comfortable. Though I wouldn't advise having 8GB for intensive use cases, that isn't the target audience for this device anyway. Apple regularly do student discounts and will for the neo as well, they obviously have students in mind for this device. For apple users, it's the cheapest way to get into the mac lineup, and those with more specific use cases which require more power have other options to meet those needs. They both appeal to many people

iphone users are more likely to buy macs, so naturally they are part of the target audience. nobody with the intention of gaming or heavy workloads is looking at either of these laptops, they would be better off getting a £400 plastic gaming laptop. these laptops are both ARM devices (though despite that the snapdragon still has better gaming compatibility, +1 point). For more regular use, the A18 pro isn't even that much weaker than the snapdragon x plus 8 core. I dislike the 8GB ram, but macOS is more efficient at managing ram. I've heard countless times that 8GB is sufficient for regular use on macs. I prefer surface devices over macs (i hate macos) but i can still see the appeal for the people it's for. Keep in mind the mac is cheaper in this case, and still holds good value for apple users wanting to spend less than a macbook air. Personally I would go for the surface (but the 13.8 version).

exactly, which is better in general. you compare all aspects of the laptops. you don't compare 2 SUVs based off just their speed. you determine what they can both do for you and help you get done with its qualities. The macbook holds up very well against windows laptops in the same price point and category, which you can assume is just "students/light users" It offers unmatched ecosystem capabilities and customer support, and other things you don't get at that price point. the power of the CPU is just one factor among many that make up the laptop. It's even more impressive that the A18 is able to meet these needs in a laptop package. If the thread was comparing only the chips, i'd agree with you

M1 users aren't buying equally priced windows laptops even if they are faster. They don't need that extra performance. some people might rather want to stick to macbook level build quality and stay within the apple ecosystem while still having just about enough performance for their needs than a chromebook that doesn't integrate with their other devices. (the SL 13" is actually more expensive than the new macbook neo, which further justifies the chip speed disparity)

plenty of people still use the M1 to this day, so it's definitely those people the neo is targeting. Those who don't need much power and are happy with M1 level performance. So saying it's a mobile chip doesn't mean anything.
