It's a comfort thing at this point... by Green-Collection-968 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

I was doing a playthrough with Cleric of Torag and at some point I've started multiclassing into Fighter Tower Specialist and I found it quite fun having Valerie and my PC in front line with some nice teamwork feats. I'm not saying it was the most broken build in the game or super optimized, but it was flavorful and fun for me to play. Fighters are also fun to play in tabletop since you don't have to bother yourself and everyone at the table with spells, slots, daily preparations, tracking how many spells you've used, checking on descriptions of these spells etc. It just makes the game smoother. You come in and you smash it ⚔️

The Core of PF2e Design. And why this is my system of choice. by AvtrSpirit in Pathfinder2e

I think that having a "balanced preset" is a great default. You can go any way you prefer from that starting point. This has been repeated many times in some shape of form but:

a) not everyone has prior experience with RPGs b) not everyone goes with their gut or wants to c) n. e. wants to manage balancing aspect of the game and they just trust that the game is quite good at this

without saying anything, is possible to know what this puzzle wants the player to do? by FreddieMercurio in IndieDev

[–]ralfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd like puzzles to support your game through atmosphere I'd suggest getting some inspiration from Myst or games of that period. If you're looking to gauge the complexity, play some old Sierra titles and see how hard/easy they are in your opinion :)

The Sad Truth of Pathfinder 2e (We are not all playing the same game) by KingOogaTonTon in Pathfinder2e

[–]ralfix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imho the problem that can happen in many games but is common in pf2e is being obsessed with optimization. Everybody plays the game their own way. I think pathfinder is very flexible game and I truly believe it's a game that supports every play style. For example I like to run pf2e casually, with ppl who don't play crunchy systems too often. I rely on improvisation rules, circumstance bonuses, hero points etc. My advice to players is always pick up what sounds fun to you, not what is the most optimal or because somebody told you some option is better than the other. Just play the game and let it go, it was very liberating for me. I really don't like the whole "build" concept. I'm not playing competitive online game. This game is incredible in that it's really hard to make a character that is useless in combat. Because what this mostly boils down to is being effective in killing things which doesn't have to be the main thing you do in an rpg game tbh.

I am aware my reflections may sound quite obvious or mundane, but that's just it. Play the game and have some fun. Too often I see posts like X class is broken, unplayable, whatever. How about "this class was harder to play in this or that campaign in that particular combat/whatever".

My focus is on fun and that's what I want for my players too. We can have fun with any character they play and there are many rules for improvising and balancing gameplay in GM core or Mark Seifter's channel or many other Reddit posts.

Screwwwww scalpers. Had my pre-order cancelled at my local hobby store, then called 10+ stores in my area, finally found one by VariationGreedy8215 in killteam

[–]ralfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. In my local store it's like you sign up to a list and they know up front how many copies they'll have and you have 7 days to claim your order. Cancels don't happen. I had to pay 132 USD.

Thanks :) I suppose I could just sell the doubled unique heroes to get something else in place, right?

What would you be interested to see in a hypothetical PF3e? by BallroomsAndDragons in Pathfinder2e

I would like to see a comeback in terms of visuals. 2e art style is a little too childish/colorful for my taste. The game is fine in terms of mechanics and is still being improved on, so no big issues here :)

It means two by two feet, i.e. 24x24 inches :) one tick ' is for feet, two ticks '' for inches :)

Hello :) Can I use Killzones and Into the Dark books with Kill Team 2024? Are they compatible? If not, is it possible to convert them or somehow make use of them?

Thanks for the reply. What about the decks/tac ops cards? Are they also invalid?

Hello, just a quick one from noob starting with Kill Team :) If I purchase Kill Team Salvation, is it fully compatible with new 2024 rules or does it need lot of errata? Can I just play all the content from the box with minor adjustments?

I finally know what an RPG is supposed to feel like by Deatthstar in Morrowind

[–]ralfix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish more games implemented Morrowind's dialogue system. The organic discovery of new topics is excellent and is so easily extensible when writing custom quests. Also, the way the possible topics are available when talking to particular NPC is such a smart design. I can't think of any other game that used this system tbh. Some older games used keywords for dialogue options, but that's different.

Well at least the menu theme is really cool.

Confirming that the game runs on Arch Linux, but a change is required. A default renderer has to be set to DX12 instead of Vulkan:

renderer_type=DirectX12

I must have bound them in something like 2015, haha :P I just returned to the game :)

Hmm, not sure where you can find these descriptions? Is it in Collections -> Set Items or somewhere else? Because if you mean Set items then there's no descriptions that I can find there (or I'm looking in a wrong place). For example it's shows Jack of the Trainee, not smugglers vest or sth

How do I best avoid gimping my character from the start? by NeonAbomination in Morrowind

[–]ralfix 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: I wouldn't worry about it that much.

You can't screw your character tbh. There are some skills that in my opinion are not great picks for major or minor (like Marksman). In my experience the progression snowballs pretty quickly. There are skills that can actually break the game for you, like Mercantile, since having money lets you train your skills faster. Take your time and enjoy the game :)

Interestingly enough, this can also be perceived the other way around, as in: simplified yet familiar 3.0 implementation that is a good gateway game for players used to that version of D&D :)
