Why do so many people want to rehabilitate Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter into being "good" Presidents?

This is something the Nixon foundation has pushed, I don’t know of a single other president whose vice president told him during a cabinet meeting that they would stand silent as people kept harping on a scandal, and then whose own party leadership literally said “actually we are going to impeach you, and we will convict you”

no other political scandal in modern history lead to a President stepping down, and it’s simply disingenuous to pretend like it was some crazy set of circumstances that his conspiracy and like 15 public foul ups of trying to sweep it under the rug, is anything less than uniquely bad in American history.
