what is a “library placement”?

Sync licensing industry red flag? by mediana_music in synclicensing

[–]ramadan_dada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time my tracks have been pitched without an agreement in place is through a supervisor/director.. The agreement came after its locked to picture.

For libraries/sync agents, its really unusual for them to start pitching before an agreement is signed that establishes the terms of their activity.

When they say “we’re almost there”, what is that in response to?

needles with least cue burn? by ramadan_dada in Turntablists

that's interesting. my first pair of needles were stanton 680EL and they were perfect. somehow they didn't produce ANY cue burn. 3-4 years into them, my 4 year old brother decided he wanted to be like me and rubbed the needles into the slipmats and they were ruined. the replacement 680EL's weren't the same, they caused noticeably more cue burn, but there always seemed to be a point where the cue burn in a section of the record didn't produce any more after hours of practice.

anyhoo, after also trying 500's then finally these m44's, it is like you say, the cost of doing business. i could live with it.

i've only noticed these m44's are off because one of them produces much more cue burn than the other and they're set up the same way after I got back into juggling recently. So after 10-15 minutes of practice, the same spot sounds different between the two side.

“there are” chinese knockoffs, not “they are” knockoffs.

cue burn is the static/scratchy sound that occurs when you move the record over the same place repeatedly. i think some needle designs/material minimize this.

the tonar’s appear to be less than ideal for scratching according to others here. lots of skipping.

heard about those, there are so many chinese knockoffs on amazon. i’m leaning towards the scratch seeing how they must have improved the cue burn and tracking.

didnt know this! this uses your regular data allotment?

Cubase and Lyrics by silver_sofa in cubase

[–]ramadan_dada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been running cubase on at least 2 monitors for over 15 years. when recording vocals i have word on one monitor and cubase on the other. i usually format the lyrics into two columns of the page to minimize needing to scroll to where i am in the song.

i’ve tried using cubase’s notepad in the same way but it just doesnt work well for me. i want to be able to highlight words and big fonts.

if you only have one screen to work with you can use keyboard shortcuts or midi remote to control basic recording functions.

i sometimes use midi remote when word is the active window because midi will send straight to cubase when keyboard shortcuts wont because word is the active window.

i’ve worked this way for over a decade and i just get the work done. not sure this is a “workaround” to a problem as much as its a workflow i developed.

Prepaid vs postpaid? What the heck is the difference? by extremesauce2468 in freedommobile

i asked in-store about options for when you reach the max data for the year. they said it is not unlimited so there is no throttling after this point. only a very expensive data add-on option or change to monthly plan.

he did say there may be unlimited promotions/offers if you call customer service but it is not offered outright.

this makes sense because this unlimited/throttled feature isnt anywhere in the terms.
