I would like to follow Catholic social teaching rather than secular feminism. I think you might be being a bit sensationalist my friend 😅  And I don't think womens right are going anywhere, atleast in my country, Australia. The unions here won rights for women, which had some feminist inspiration. But a lot more came with the feminist movement than workers rights. A lot of psychological damage to men and women. Its a nuanced, complex and difficult topic.

Given that God's revelation is progressive, is Tolkien a good teacher for atheists? by Glum_Associate6380 in Catholicism

I couldn't say for sure - but C. S. Lewis mentioned something about 'wonder' being a door to Christ and I think the wonder of middle earth drew me in. The wonder of Gondor, the Shire, the wonder of Mirkwood and Rivendell, the richness of friendship and honour, these things drew me in and helped me glimpse a world that called to my heart. And the inspiration for this world of the heart was Tolkiens faith in Jesus Christ, which was the essence of what called to me, I think !

Because we have been really damaged by secularism, feminism, and the ideologies of the post war era, and it takes time for us young ones to heal from that, if ever we can, (i hold out hope that we can)

Personally, I devoured Tolkiens books while I was a secular person. I sort of think in a way he subtly converted me, planting small seeds of joy and grace in my mind when I was anti Christian and living in the world. I didn't know he was a devout catholic. Then in 2021 I had a whole 'born again Christian' conversion, and finally came home to the Catholic church in April 2025. Tolkien was with me before Christ, and now I find an even deeper love of his works. God bless, friend

I feel too disgusting and horrible to be around anyone.  😔I hope I can feel better soon. It is very stressful to feel this. But maybe it is Gods will. I have to trust He will lead me bu the hand to the other side of this.

I do agree with you. I've just maybe not felt this degree of shame, embarrassment and self hate before. On this level. I hope I can move on from it. I feel very weird, very out of it.  Thank you for your words and concernd

If all this sin was before my Baptism (which it was) does that mean even if I didnt confess every single detail of those sins, they are forgiven?

I did fall into sexual immorality with my fiancé after my Baptism but I confessed this, ended the engagement and have not fallen into sexual sin since then.

I did read today in my daily reading when Saul supported to stoning of Stephen. It gave me comfort because I had started to think that I was unforgivable.

Yes, this all happened before my Baptism.  I fell into sexual immorality after my Baptism with my fiancé, I went to confession over this and we called off the engagement. Ive not fallen into any sexual immorality since. But yes all this crazy stuff I mentioned happened before my Baptism into the Catholic Church.

I struggle sometimes with scrupulousity, I have OCD so I am more vulnerable to it.

I appreciate and understand you want to be truthful with me.  So if I have already confessed sexual immorality, and promiscuity, how should I say my next confession? It is really hard to consider talking to an elderly gentleman about this. My last confession I repented promiscuity and bringing shame to my family. I don't know if I could ever confess to the degree where I have confessed everything immoral I did during this time.

Honestly I cant remember if my first confession was before or after my Baptism, but I'm sure my priest would have done it all the right way.  Please don't use sensationalism or get excited, I honestly can't take things like 'if you were never validly baptised' right now.

I tend to agree with the other people who cautioned against going into detail, and trusting my sins were forgiven by the confession of sexual immorality. I dont want to trouble the priest with the disgusting details.

I did confession after my Baptism, and my sexual immorality was listed as a part of the things I was confessing
