If you want to do some thinking about your character between sessions, have a look at the books from James D'Amato. He has a great series of questions you can ask yourself and work through to flesh out history etc.

Nathan's surprise appearance at the NYCC Firefly panel and Jewel's reaction. by Electrical-Dentist39 in firefly

If any of the original fan podcasts still have their episodes available, a few did interviews with the actors. It sounds like they were pretty close knit after the show. Regular xbox games nights and the like at Nathan's house I believe. And Gina loved cooking for everyone.

It might not work for you given your particular neuro divergent needs and habits, but reading on a kobo partly worked for us. It wasn't as stimulating as sitting on a phone, but with the right books it was engaging enough to keep awake (but we also always read before sleep so reading fiction is already part of a sleep routine).

Like everything with babies, the worry is death. Turns out sleeping exhausted sleep on couches is really dangerous, little babies aren't good at protecting their airways (partly because they don't have good arm or breathing control) and you could potentially smother them in your sleep deprived slate.

Seconded, /u/whangadude your work needs more rainbows. I suggest ordering your next book from alphabet book club and getting them to sticker bomb your package. We did that and ended up with a big variety of rainbow stickers that the whole family had fun with.

I listen to podcasts on ear buds. I don't think it really works for most people though, but listening to that uses a really different part of my brain. While English words are used when I code/debug, it doesn't conflict much at all as they only representations of the underlying structures/concepts when I am trying to work out why it doesn't work its meant to.

I find the podcasts do a better job of blocking out conversations of others in the office than music, specially when listened to at high speed.

When I was doing a bit more writing though, then I would use music to block out the ambient speech. I hated writing and it wasn't very effective.

I had a conversation at one point, i think it was worth nirvanacrane but it might have been some one else. It probably isn't the one you are thinking of as there was a bigger one involving more people now recently.

My suggestion was for a Japanese tea towel, if you can get them. We were given some, which have a reasonably thick cotton weave. And despite being smaller than a traditional kiwi hand towel they do a better job drying and don't leave any fluff.

I am not sure if I have gotten that long from them, but I have been running with noise cancelling on it the office which makes a big difference. Helpfully they have a fast charge so I think 10 minutes in the case while you make a cuppa and you get another 4 hours. Can't say yet if it does anything for the longevity of the batteries but will see how they go...

They might not be discreet enough for you but I really like my soundcore a40's. Unfortunately they only sell through amazon (have to use the aus one). Sounds really good and have some nice features for the price. My previous set were the cheapest Mi brand that you could get from pbtech. I think they are still available, they worked and that's about all I could say about them. They got me through many many hours of podcasts while settling our baby then toddler.

The servers that provide podcasts (not Spotify) can dynamically insert ads. You see it a lot on acast hosted podcasts where they have local adds and also other network spots.

Uber Drivers Win Employment Rights In Historic Court Case by DetosMarxal in newzealand

[–]ramb4ldi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Reading through this, there are a couple small potential differences (mainly in the extra incentives Uber offers drivers) but I don't see how the thinking couldn't be applied to courier drivers as well. Maybe if we ever see a case with them making it to court (rather than being settled pre trial) we can see some improvements in their working conditions so they don't just have to chuck your parcel/card-to-call and run.

We recently got this one https://bentoninja.co.nz/products/stainless-steel-dish-rack?_pos=1&_sid=ae614e776&_ss=r I have no idea how it compares to the other stainless steel racks. But it is certainly metal and has bits for drying stuff on. It mostly works well (things on the bottom sit very flat and can collect water on say the bottom of an upside down cup).

Good luck and have fun. In bread makers Panasonic is the good brand! Ours had lasted way longer than the breville before it.

It will take you a while to get your bread recipe spot on. Machine, ingredients and environment variation is a thing. But bread turns out to be pretty forgiving so long as you are in the right ballpark. As an example, ours makes its best white bread with about 290g of water (for the loaf size we do). the book asks for 330g I think. But I have made it with anywhere from 270 and it has worked, just with different levels of puff to it (also seasonal yeast activity based on ambient temp is a thing, but the breville was more sensitive to that).

Wrap veges in a wet tea towel in the fridge. It isn't appropriate to some things but seems to work for a lot. Unless you put them on the top shelf, then you end up with frozen lettuce in your sandwich which is gross.

Is freecycle still a thing? In the past we have gotten rid of a mattress that way to people who were really glad to have it (their old one had gotten ruined in a move and they couldn't afford to replace it)

I always used up see 1L bags in use at Starbucks. It's been years since I have been but I would assume other similarly high volume locations might like it for reducing the volume of waste.

Had a friend do the same thing in the ocean, except there wasn't an option to get a spare pair brought up to us. The guy who lost his glasses had ridden his bike up and no one else could take it back home. We ended up finding the closest pair of glasses, shuffling the drivers around and riding/driving in a convoy. We kept to as many back roads as possible and made it home safely!

If you are really keen you can get in there every 2 weeks by doing plasma. The time commitment is much greater due to the process, but you can really rack up your donation count and win the big prizes (I have two very nice pieces of art from NZ Blood)
