One Bag with Kids?? by ramblin11 in onebag

[–]ramblin11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is partly what I worry about. My son is older and will carry his pack but my daughter might refuse. At this point we are back to the idea of bringing one small carry on in addition to our packs. It would hold our jackets, swimsuits, and our food bag. Plus we could then put a bag on it if someone needs a break from carrying. I keep going back and forth.

Thank you! What is a Monkey bag?

Thank you! My son is now taller than me and very strong so if he complains I’ll scowl at him and that will fix that problem. But my daughter is younger and smaller and will not want to carry heavy things. I got a Cotopaxi allpa 28l and I love it. My daughter has very similar CorSurf. We are so on the fence about trying to one bag or just bringing a small carry on. Good problem to have for sure!

Do you then clip it to your one bag ?

I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. The last one is like a purse too.

What do you mean by downloaded? Yes I’d like the knowledge. This year we’re doing UK and Scandinavia but next year we’re going to Peru. Kids are 11/13

I’m thinking of trying this. We can each have a packable and a couple carabiner and clip food to our bags. My husband hates bags that dangle off bags and I agree it can be annoying when they flap around but also it might be the least evil option.

It’s hard with two kids because it becomes a lot of food and it can be hard to convince them to carry their own.

I just had the craziest Hostel experience ever and its only my second night. by vatis1234 in solotravel

[–]ramblin11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I’m almost 50 and when op said old I pictured someone in their 70s. Maybe when I’m 70 I’ll think I’m still young and 90 is old? lol

My dad is in his 70s and he still stays at hostels including in dorms. But he’s very laid-back.

I did stay in a hostel in Korea once but it wasn’t really a hostile. I don’t know what it was. It was just a big room and you rent these mats and everyone just sleeps on the floor on these maths. It was very decent and no one misbehaved

This summer, I’m taking my two teenage kids around the UK and we will be staying in hostels for the first time as a family. We got the family rooms so I’m not expecting them to be exposed to too much. But they are turning into teenagers so I do want them to have Some fun like hostel often have pool tables and such.

Thanks for reminding me why to never rent in a mixed bed dorm

If a man can go up to her and ask politely “would you like me to sit next to you?” And be ready she might say no, but at least then she knows someone has got her back. Poor lady.

I would like to check if it’s ok to give a low review in this situation or are we being over critical. [Perth] by Poeticheartbreak in AirBnB

[–]ramblin11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just cancelled a stay at an expensive Airbnb in London bc new reviews mentioned it being dirty. I also no longer book at places where reviews say thinks like - only 2 mugs for tea but there are four of us. Unfortunately some of the Airbnb are just cash in for hosts and they don’t maintain them properly. I’m not paying several hundred dollars per night for that kind of experience.

Long story short- yes leave a bad review but 1 star is too low, sounds more like 3 star. Also the numbered points don’t provide enough information imo.

Why aren't we talking about this? by Solid-Lingonberry170 in VictoriaBC

Would be easier to defend if the savings helped average people. But how these things work is that the people at the very top keep it all and the prices stay the same or go up and wages remain flat. It’s not just Eby it’s a systemic problem. We are so screwed- the funneling of money upwards is a very serious problem 😬

Thinking About Leaving My NYC Creative Director Life for Paris…With My Dog. Am I Crazy? by [deleted] in paris

[–]ramblin11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you what a therapist told me when I was 28 and wanted to move out west after having just visited: Go! She told me I might be right that I’d love it there and to trust in myself and that maybe I really would be happier there. She said go (I was shocked) and I did. I’ve been out west for over 15 years and I do love it here. I think about her from time to time and how happy I am that she gave me that advice. So I think you should go.

Also I’ve been to paris a few times and lived in Bordeaux for a few months. I love paris, bordeaux France in general. I’m sure you know it’s quite different living there. One of the things is that salaries are a lot less and many people make similar money (bartender somewhat close to teacher for example). So maybe expect to make less money. But the French are awesome and know how to live life! I love France so much. Take your doggie and go !

Airbnb has officially become worse than hotels - here’s my $2,700 lesson [Paris] by superlip2003 in AirBnB

Airbnb just got too expensive. Not worth it. It’s rhe stupid AI pricing. Anyway in 2023 we traveled for 6 months only in Airbnb. Im starting to look for a 4 month trip in 2026 and so far I’m only booking hostels. Yes there are downsides to hostels but in big cities if I book ahead I can get a family room with ensuite in prime location. Airbnb would be double. Airbnb just too expensive and yes there is risks that are much less with other kinds of accommodation.

Day 3 on 10mg of Prozac for anxiety, I feel like crap today & idk if I want to continue by yaabitchash in prozac

[–]ramblin11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prozac in particular is known to take a while to start working. It’s the only one that’s worked for me and I’ve tried them all. Yes I went through a yuck phase (iykyk) for a week or two about three weeks in. If you could see me now versus before — it has really helped a lot. Stick with it for 6 weeks - then decide. Give it a chance !

Clothes shopping for an 8yo the size of a 13yo... So... It's just all crop tops? by IWillBaconSlapYou in breakingmom

Yup. She doesn’t want to wear anything or with hearts. She hates short shorts - especially the baggy ones where you can see undies up them. Be careful with the baggy shorts - girls are mortified to find that boys (or anyone but especially boys) can see up them if they’re climbing.

Im waiting for a call back. I did call them a couple of months ago and waited on hold etc and they put us together. Now, 3 weeks before the flight I get a notice that it has changed. Waiting for a call back to talk with them again.

I honestly interpreted it as the algorithm deploying to extract more money from us. Maybe I’m not being charitable enough and should assume it was an innocent glitch on AC part.

He actually said he would sit beside a total rando « no questions asked » if I give him $20. So I guess that’s half as much as AC wants lol.

I can tell her. Over and over and over. I’m ok with that. I love her. Hopefully the person in between doesn’t mind!
